2-Padm Puraan, 5-Uttar Khand, p 939-945 This Khand covers the pages 610-1001 (390 pages) of the book. Importance of Badaree Naath; Gangaa; Tulasee, Shaaligraam, Prayaag Teerth, various kinds of Daan (charities); about Shani Dev; various Vrat; Ekaadashee of all months; worship of Yam Raaj and Dwaadashee Vrat; Vishnu Sahastranaam; story of devotee Pundareek; importance of Vishnu and various flowers to use in His worship; Shankhaasur, Kaartik and Maagh Snaan and Vrat; Narasinh Chaturdashee; Geetaa; Bhaagvat Kathaa; Avataar stories - Matsya, Koorm, Narasinh, Vaaman, Parashuraam, Raam, and Krishn. Narasinh Avataar and Prahlaad Mahaadev Jee said - "Hey Paarvatee, Kashyap Jee had two very mighty sons from Diti. Their names were Hiranyakashyap and Hiranyaaksh. The reason of their birth in Raakshas Yoni is like this. In their previous lives, they were Jaya and Vijaya - Hari's Paarshad and worked as the guards of Hari in Shwet Dweep. Once Sanakaadi Muni came to Shwet Dweep to see Hari, but Jaya and Vijaya stopped them in between. So they cursed them to leave that Bhagavaan's Lok and go to Bhoo Lok. When Hari came to know about this He called both guards and Sanakaadi Muni. Then He said to His guards - "You have committed crime against Muni, that is why you cannot evade this curse. So either you live as my sinless Bhakt for 7 lives; or live as my enemy for 3 lives." Hearing this, Jaya Vijaya said - "We cannot live without you for long time, so we would prefer to live as your enemy for 3 lives." That is why they were born as Kashyap and Diti's sons - the elder one was Hiranyakashyap and the younger one was Hiranyaaksh. Hiranyaaksh was always intoxicated. There was no measuring rod to know that how much big his body was or how much big it could become. Once in pride, he uprooted this Prithvi and went to Rasaatal keeping it on his head. Seeing this all Devtaa got afflicted and went to Naaraayan. Naaraayan assumed the form of a Varaah (boar) with big teeth and long arms. He attacked him with His one tooth, crushed his body and killed him. He lifted Prithvi and kept her on His teeth. He brought her out of the sea and kept her on the head of Shesh Naag like before. He Himself supported her by assuming the form of Kashchap. Devtaa etc prayed Him and He got disappeared from there. Seeing his brother killed, Hiranyakashyap started doing Tapasyaa on Meru Parvat. Hey Paarvatee, That mighty Daitya did Tapasyaa for 1,000 Divine years subsisting only on air and always did Jaap of my 5-letter Mantra "Aum Namah Shivaaya". Then pleased with him, I bestowed him with the Var. He said - "Bhagavan, Please bestow me with the Var that I should not be killed by anything - Devtaa, Asur, human being, Gandharv, Naag, Raakshas, animal, bird, deer, Siddh, Mahaatmaa, Yaksh, Vidyaadhar, Kinnar, all kinds of diseases, all kinds of weapons and Maharshi." I bestowed him with this Var. After obtaining this Var he became the king of Tri-Lok. He defeated Devtaa too. All became his dependent. He had married Uttaanpaad's daughter Kalyaanee, and she gave birth to glorious Prahlaad who became the king of Daitya in future. He had love towards Hari's feet since he was in the womb. When the time came Prahlaad's Upanayan Sanskaar was performed and sent to Gurukul. There he studied Ved and Shaastra. Once he came home and greeted his father. His father embraced him and said - "Son You have lived in Gurukul for long ime, what did you learn there, tell me that." Prahlaad said - "Father, Who is the Lord of all Ved and Shaastra, I bow my head to that Eeshwar and tell you something." As Hiranyakashyap heard this, he called his Guru and said angrily - "O foolish Braahman, What did you teach to my son? My son? and pray to Vishnu? Why did you impart such education to him? This foolish work is only for Braahman. He has prayed my enemy?" He became mad of anger and spoke looking around - "Is there anybody around? Kill this Braahman." When Raakshas were tying Guru Jee, Prahlaad said - "Father, Guru Jee did not teach this to me. I have learnt this only by the grace of Vishnu. None else teach me this, my Guru is only Hari. Therefore my Guru is innocent, free him from this bondage." Hearing this Hiranyakashyap freed that Braahman and said to Prahlaad - "Why are you deluded by these Braahman? And who is this Vishnu? How is His form? Where does he live? I rule the world, I am the Lord of Tri-Lok. Vishnu is our enemy. Leave him and worship me only. Or worship Shankar Jee. He is the Lord of all Devtaa.." Purohit said to Prahlaad - "Your father is right, you should not worship your father's enemy Vishnu and worship Mahaadev Jee. There is no other greater Devtaa than Mahaadev Jee. By his grace only your father is Eeshwar today." Prahlaad said - "It is very surprising that even Braahman are also talking like this about Him. Only Naaraayan is Sanaatan, only Naaraayan is Truth, only Naarayan is Shiv, Vaasudev, Achyut. Only His meditation is good. He is the Lord of three Devee - Shree, Bhoo, and Leelaa. Both Brahmaa and Mahaadev obey His orders. Soorya rises on time by His orders only. In the beginning of the Creation only Naaraayan was there. At that time nobody else was there - Brahma, Shiv, Sun, Moon, sky etc. I will worship only the same Lakshmeepati Naaraayan." Hearing this Hiranyakashyap got very angry and ordered his people to kill Prahlaad by terrible weapons. The Raakshas ran to kill him, but Prahlaad just stood meditating on 8-letter Mantra. Weapons hit him but fell down without harming him. They could not make even a small wound in is body. Then Hiranyakashyap ordered to kill him by Vaasuki etc snake bites, but as they bit him, their own poison also got disappeared from their mouth and thousands of Garud appeared and started wounding their bodies. Seeing this Hiranyakshyap got angrier than before and he ordered his people to attack him by elephants. As elephants attacked him, their own tusks broke and they started crying with pain and ran away. Now he threw him in a burning fire, but Agni Dev failed to burn him. Now everybody was very surprised. Then his father gave him a terrible poison, but by the grace of Vishnu it turned into Amrit for him. Thus Hiranyakashyap tried his hard to kill him but failed. He got very surprised so he said to Prahlaad - "You say that your Vishnu is omnipresent, so let me see His glory, power, prosperity, knowledge, might, beauty, then only I can regard Him as Devtaa. Nobody in the world can face me right now. If Vishnu wins me then He can attain the status of Eeshwar." Now it was the turn of Prahlaad to be surprised. He said - "Father, Yogee see Him by the power of their Bhakti, without Bhakti He cannot be seen anywhere, otherwise He is present everywhere." Hearing this Hiranyakashyap angrily said - "There is no need to tell all this about Him like this, present the proof." and he hit a pillar of his palace and said - "If your Vishnu is omnipresent, then show me Him here in this pillar, otherwise I will kill you in the crime of lying." Saying this Daitya Raaj drew his sword out and proceeded towards him to kill him. At the same moment a terrible sound was heard from the pillar. It was so terrible that all Daitya's ears went deaf and they fell down on the floor. The pillar burst out and Hari came out of that pillar assuming the form of a lion. His face was of lion and the trunk was of human being. Seeing Him Hiranyakashyap got restless, he could not balance and fell down on the floor. Prahlaad bowed down to Him repetitively. Hiranyakashyap got up and got ready to fight with Him. All attacked Narasinh Bhagavaan, but He burned everything, except Prahlaad and his servants, through the fire emanating from His body. He lifted Hiaranyakashyap and tore his stomach with His sharp nails. He died looking directly at Bhagavaan's face. Hari took out his intestines and wore them in His neck. All Devtaa, Rishi, Muni came to pray Him. At that time Hari was in a very angry state, so they invoked Lakshmee Jee who cooled Him down. All coronated Prahlaad as Daitya King. He ruled the Kingdom very religiously and in the end went to Hari's Sanaatan Dhaam. I told you this about Narasinh Avataar, now you listen to other Avataar."
