Thus keeping Vrat
for one year, one should do Udyaapan. Draw a Mandal of red sandalwood paste
of one, two or four arm length and make Soorya Mandal from red vermilion and
Geroo inside that Mandal. Worship Soorya with Dhoop and variety of Naivedya.
Keep pitchers full of grains and gold in front of him. Give 1,000 Aahuti with
sesame seeds, jaggery, Ghee and Aak's sticks with the Mantra "Aa Krishnen..."
(Yajur Ved, 33|43). Feed 12 Braahman and give them red cloth, one cow with calf,
umbrella, shoes, and Daksinaa. After all this one should eat himself also quietly.
Whever does this

Kalyaan Saptamee Vrat
(Chap 48) Krishn said - Whatever 7th day of Shukla Paksh falls on Sunday
that is called Kalyaan Saptamee or Vijayaa Saptamee. On this day take bath
with cow's milk mixed water, put on white clothes, make a lotus flower of
eight petals with rice. Then worship those petals with these eight names
starting from eastern petal and going clockwise - Om Tapanaaya Namah, Om
Maartandaaya Namah, Om Divaakaraaya Namah, Om Vidhaatre Namah, Om Varunaaya
Namah, Om Bhaaskaraaya Namah, Om Vikartnaaya Namah. Worship the Vedee with
white cloth, fruits, Naivedya, Dhoop, flower garland, jaggery and salt and
Mantra which end with Namaskaar. After this do Havan and feed Braahman to
his capacity. Donate a sesame seed pot with gold to Guru. Next day take
Kheer with Ghee with Braahman. Thus one should do this Vrat for one year
and do Udyaapan in the end by donating water filled pitcher, Ghee pot, fold,
clothes, jewelry, and cow with calf. If one cannot give so much then donate
only cow."

Vrat is found in Matsya Puraan, Chapter 74 also in similar Shlok]
Sharkaraa Saptamee Vrat
(Chap 49) Krishn said - "Now I tell you about Sharkaraa Saptamee Vrat
which is the giver of long life, health and wealth. In Vaishaakh Maas, on
the 7th day of Shukla Paksh, one should take bath with the water with
white sesame seeds, and put on white clothes. Make an eight petal lotus
flower with stem with Kumkum (red vermilion) and worship Soorya Bhagavaan
with the Mantra "Savitrey Namah". Fill a pitcher with water, put
a pot filled with sugar on it. Adorn the water pitcher with red cloth and
white flower garland. Keep a golden horse also near them. Then do Aavaahan
of Soorya with this Mantra. (see p 426) After that do Jap of Saur Sookt,
or listen to Saur Puraan (Bhavishya Puraan). Next day, on the 8th day, in
the morning worship Soorya Bhagavaan and give all material to Braahman and
feed him with sugar, Ghee and Khee. He himself should eat food without
salt and oil.

do this Vrat for one year, do Udyaapan by donating a full bed, milk giving
cow, a pitcher full of sugar, fully furnished house, and a horse made of
1,000 or 100 or five nishk gold to one's capacity. This Vrat gives the fruit

Kamal Saptamee Vrat
(Chap 50) Krishn said - "Now I describe you Kamal Saptamee Vrat whose
even name pleases Soorya. In Vasant Ritu (in Maagh Maas), on the 7th day
of Shukla Paksh, take bath with the water with yellow mustard. Keep sesame
seed in a pot and draw a lotus flower in it. Imagine Soorya in that pot
and cover that pot with two clothes and worship it with the following
Mantra. (see p 427) Then give that pot to a Braahman after worshipping
him. Next day, on the 8th day, feed Braahman to one's capacity and himself
too without oil. Thus one should do this Vrat for one year on the 7th day
of Shukla Paksh of every month.
At the end of
the Vrat, one should donate golden lotus flower, golden cow, many pots,
Aasan, lamp and other materials to Braahman. Who ever does this Vrat with
this method, he becomes very prosperous and lives in Soorya Lok."
[In several essays and Puraan,
this Vrat has been listed as Kamal Shashthee]
Shubh Saptamee Vrat
(Chap 51) Krishn said - "Now you listen to another Saptamee that is
called Shubh Saptamee. After keeping fast on this day one becomes free
from grievances, diseases and sorrows. In Aashwin Maas, on the 7th day of
Shukla Paksh, one should invite a Braahman for Swasti Vaachan. Worship a
cow with this Mantra. (see p 427) Put one Ser (900 gms) sesame seeds in a
copper pot and then establish a golden idol of bull on it and worship it
with cloth, flower garland etc. In the evening all should be given to
Braahman saying "Aryamaa Preeyataam". In the evening eat Panchgavya
and sleep on naked floor. Next morning, on the 8th day, worship Braahman.
Every month one should give two clothes, golden bull, etc. At the end of
the year, sugar cane, jaggery, clothes, pots, Aasan, full bed, a copper
pot with one Ser sesame seeds, golden bull should be donated saying
"Vishwaatmaa Preeyataam". Who does this Vrat thus, he becomes
prosperous, is worshipped in Dev Lok for one Kalp. After he is born on
Prithvi and becomes Chakravartee king. This Saptamee destroys hundreds of
sins.
