Puraan | 8-Agni Puraan
Yam Geetaa told by Yam Raaj to Nachiketaa; Glory of Agni Puraan. Yam Geetaa
Agni Dev said - "Now I will tell you the "Yam Geetaa" which Yam Raaj
said to Nachiketaa. This gives pleasure and Moksh to people. Yam Raaj said - "Oh,
How surprising it is, that because of his delusive and unstable mind a man wishes for
status, bed, conveyance, clothes, and house etc pleasure things considering them
permanent." Above and below, in body, Indriyaan, mouth and mind - Vishnu is present everywhere, considering this who leaves this body, he gets absorbed in Hari. Who is omnipresent, from whom everything has appeared, who has so many forms, who cannot be understood by Indriyaan, who cannot be pointed out by any specific name, who is beyond all, only He, Bhagavaan Vishnu is present in all. He Himself is Yagya, He is the Lord of Yagya. Some want to attain Him in the form of Vishnu, some want to attain Him in the form of Shiv, or Brahmaa, or Indra, or Soorya, or Chandramaa, or Kaal etc. But from Brahmaa to a tiniest insect all are Vishnu's forms. The same Vishnu is Par Brahm, after knowing whom one does not need to come back. One can attain Him by donating things, by taking bath in great Teerth places, by meditating, by worshipping, by observing fasts, by listening religious talks, by following Dharm. Consider this Aatmaa as a rider and this body as a chariot. Know the Intellect as charioteer and this heart as reins. Learned people call these Indriyaan horses and subjects of Indriyaan their paths. Aatmaa along with this body, Indriyaan and heart is called the consumer (or enjoyer). If this Intellect charioteer is A-Gyaanee (ignorant), he does not hold his heart form reins tightly, and thus he cannot attain Param Pad and keep falling in this world. BUT whoever is Gyaanee, he keeps his heart in his control and he attains the Param Pad. This doesn't bring him back in this world. Whose intellect is logical and whose heart is in his control, the same gets free from the bondage of this world. Beyond the Indriyaan are their subjects, beyond the subjects is heart, beyond heart is intellect, beyond intellect is Mahat Tattwa, and beyond Mahat Tattwa is A-Vyakt (Prakriti) and beyond A-Vyakt is Purush. There is nothing beyond Purush. That is the limit, that is the Param gati. Hidden in al Bhoot this Aatmaa doesn't come into light; only learned people can see it with their sharp intellect. A learned person should absorb his speech in his heart, and heart in his intellect; intellect in Mahat Tattwa and Mahat Tattwa in peaceful Aatmaa. One knows Brahm through Yam and Niyam etc means and oneness of Aatmaa only. A-Hinsaa, Truth, Asteya, Brahmcharya, and A-Parigraha - these are the 5 "Yam". "Niyam" are also 5 - Shauch, Santosh, Tap, Swaadhyaaya, and worship. "Aasan" is the name of pose for sitting, and control over Praan air is called "Praanaayaam". Control over Indriyaan is called "Pratyaahaar". To settle one's mind in an auspicious thing is called "Dhaaranaa". And repeatedly making Dhaaranaa is called "Dhyaan" (meditation). "I am Brahm" thinking thus is called "Samaadhi". As air filled in a pitcher mixes with great sky after the pitcher is broken, in the same way this Praan mixes with Brahm after it comes out of the body. Jeev can consider itself Brahm only through Gyaan, otherwise not. Being free from A-Gyaan and its Karm it becomes immortal. Agni Dev said - "Vashishth, This was Yam Geetaa I told you. Who read this they attain pleasures and Moksh. According to Vedaant, seeing Brahm in everything is called "Aatyantik Pralaya". Glory of Agni Puraan Agni Dev said - "Agni Puraan is a form of Brahm. I told you "Paraa" and A-Paraa" Vidyaa somewhere in brief and somewhere in detail. This is Mahaa Puraan. Rig Ved, Yajur Ved, Saam Ved, Atharv Ved, Vishnu's glory, Creation of the world, Chhand (meters), Shikshaa (related to Ved phonetics), Vyaakaran (grammar), Kosh (dictionary), Jyotish (astrology), Nirukt (etymological explanation of Vaidik words), Dharm Shaastra, Meemaansaa, Aayur Ved, Puraan, Dhanur Ved (archery), Gandharv Ved (art of dancing and music) - all is "A-Paraa" Vidyaa. Only the highest Akshar Tattwa is "Paraa" Vidyaa. "All this is Vishnu" - who has such feeling, he is never harmed in this Kali Yug. Vishnu is the cause of everything, so who meditates on Him, he never experiences sorrows. Even if he sometimes commits any sin because of the attraction of the subjects of Indriyaan, then also he becomes free from all sins by meditating on Hari. "Dhyaan" is the same when one thinks about Hari, "story" is the same which Keshav's life description is there, and Vashishth Jee, Karm is also the same which is done to please Krishn. I told you that Paramaarth in the form of Agni Puraan which neither a Guru can preach to his disciple, nor a father can tell to his son. One can get everything in this world, but not such preaching. Creation of living beings is of two types - "Daivee" and "Aasuree". Who is busy in Vishnu's Bhakti, he is Daivee creation, and who is away from Bhagavaan, he is the man of Aasuree creation. Who read or hear Agni Puraan daily, they don't need to go to any Teerth, cow donation, Yagya or fasting. Who donates 1 Maashaa gold daily, and who listens to 1 Shlok of Agni Puraan daily - fruits of both activities are the same. Reading its 1 chapter is more than a cow donation. "Pravritti" and "Nivritti" Dharm, and "Paraa" and "A-Paraa" named both Vidyaa cannot be compared with Agni Puraan. Who listens to this Puraan, he becomes the knower of the Ved. His all sins are destroyed. Who reads Agni Puraan in front of Vishnu, he worships Keshav by Gyaan Yagya. Hari Himself told me that who keeps a hand-written copy of Agni Puraan, he attains both pleasures and Moksh." Vashishth Jee said - "Hey Vyaas, This Agni Puraan is the form o Paraa and A-Paraa Vidyaa. Vishnu told this to Brahmaa and Agni Dev told other Rishi and me in whichever way, I told you it in the same way. Who reads its even one Shlok, his all sins are destroyed, that is why one should read or hear himself or tell it to other people." Vyaas Jee said - "Hey Soot, I told you this Agni Puraan which I heard from Vashishth Jee. Hearing this one gets everythng - children, wealth, good luck, and who desires fpr Moksh, he attains Moksh too. You should read this Puraan with Shuk and Pail, you will attain pleasures and Moksh, there is no doubt about it. You also tell this to your devotees and disciples." Soot Jee said - "Hey Shaunak etc Muni, I heard this Agni Puraan by the grace of Vyaas Jee. Agni Dev is the speaker of this Puraan, that is why it is called Aagneya Puraan. This contains Brahm and Vidyaa. There is no Shaastra better than this, there is no better Shruti than this, there is no greater Gyaan than this, there is no better Smriti than this, there is no better Ved than this one, there is no better Vidyaa than this one, there is no better even Vedaant than this one. It describes all Avataar of Vishnu, Geetaa, Raamaayan, Harivansh and Mahaabhaarat; nine types of Creation, Deekshaa, worship, characteristics of idol and temples etc. It describes many Mantra which can give pleasures and Moksh. Various Mantra related to Shiv, Shakti, Soorya, Vaastu etc are described here. Sarg (Creation), Pratisarg (Pralaya), Brahmaand (Universe), Bhuvan Kosh, Dweep (Islands), Varsh (pieces of land), rivers, Teerth, Nakshatra, Jyotish (astrology), Manvantar, Varn Aashram Dharm, cleansing, Daan (donations), Vrat (fasting), Soorya Vansh, Chandra Vansh, poetry etc are given here. Not only this, even Brahm's form has been described here. A King should methodically worship the speaker of Puraan. At the end he should donate gold, cows, land etc to him. Feed Braahman." Vyaas Jee said - "After saying this Soot Jee went away from there and Shaunak etc Rishi also went to Shree Hari's Lok." Agni Puraan Ends Here
