Bhaarat Varsh

Agni Dev said - " Whatever Varsh is towards South of Himaalaya, and North of sea, its name is Bhaarat. It measures 9,000 Yojan. Who have desires, it is their Karm Bhoomi. Mahendra, Malaya, Sahya, Shuktimaan, Himaalaya, Vindhya, and Paariyaatra - these 7 are mountains here. Indra Dweep, Kaseroo, Taamravarn, Gabhastimaan, Naag Dweep, Saumya, Gaandharv, and Vaarun - these are 8 Dweep (islands); and Bhaarat is the 9th Dweep surrounded by sea. Bhaarat is spread thousands of Yojan from North to South and itis divided in 9 parts as given above. Bhaarat is in the middle. To its East live Kiraat and to its West live Yavan. In the central Bharat live Braahman.

Ved-Smriti etc rivers have their source in Paariyaatra mountain. Narmadaa has its source in Vindhyaachal mountain. Taapee, Payoshnee, Godaavaree, Bheemarathee and Krishnvenaa rivers have their source in Sahya mountain. Kritmaalaa has its source in Malaya mountain, and Trisaamaa etc rivers have their source in Mahendra mountain. Kumaaree etc rivers have their source in Shuktimaan mountain and Chandrabhaagaa etc rivers have their source in Himaalaya mountain. To the West of Bhaarat are Kuru, Paanchaal and Madhya Desh."

Jamboo Dweep and the Earth

Agni Dev says - "Jamboo Dweep is 100,000 Yojan. It is surrounded by salty water sea which is also 100,000 Yojan in area. This salted water sea is surrounded by Plaksh Dweep. Medhaatithi's (Priyavrat's son) 7 sons are the kings of this Dweep. (1) Shaantbhaya, (2) Shishir, (3) Sukhodaya, (4) Aanand, (5) Shiv, (6) Kshem and (7) Dhruv - these 7 are Medhaatithi's sons. These 7 Varsh have the same name as Medhatithi's sons names. Gomedh, Chandra, Naarad, Dundubhi, Somak, Sumanaa, and Shail - these are the border mountains of those Dweep. People living in those Dweep are called Vaibhraj. There are 7 main rivers. From Plaksh to Shaak Dweep, the age of people is 5,000 years. They follow Varn Aashram Dharm. Aarya, Kuru, Vivinsh, and Bhaaveee are the four Varn there. Chandramaa is their Devtaa. It is spread up to 200,000 Yojan. It is surrounded by Ikshu juice sea of the same size.

Around the Ikshu juice sea is Shaalmali Dweep which is double the size of Plaksh Dweep. Vapushmaan's 7 sons rule here. Their names are - (1) Shwet, (2) Harit, (3) Jeemoot, (4) Lohit, (5) Vaidyut, (6) Maanas, and (7) Suprabh. The same names are of its 7 Varsh. This is surrounded by "Surod" named sea of liquor. Kumud, Anal, Balaahak, Drone, Kank, Mahish, and Kakudmaan are the border mountains. There are 7 chief rivers. Kapil, Arun,Peet and Krishn are the Braahman, Kshatriya, Vaishy and Shoodra Varn there. THey worship Vaayu Dev. This Dweep is surrounded by liquor.

After this is Kush Dweep. Its Kings are Jyotishmaan's 7 sons - (1) Udbhid, (2) Dhenumaan, (3) Dwairath, (4) Lamban, (5) Dhairya, (6) Kapil and (7) Prabhaakar. Their Dweep are also on their names. Damee, Shushumee, Sneh, and Mandey are Braahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shoodra there. They worship Vishnu. Vidrum, Hemshail, Dyutimaan, Pushpvaan, Kusheshaya, Hari, and Mandaraachal - these 7 are its border mountains. This Dweep is surrounded by Ghee sea equal to its size.

Around this Ghee sea, there is Kraunch Dweep. Dyutimaan's sons are the kings there, and their Varsh's names are on their names only. (1) Kushal, (2) Manonug, (3) Ushna, (4) Pradhaan, (5) Andhkaarak, (6) Muni, and (7) Dundubhee are the 7 sons of Dyutimaan. Its border mountains and rivers are also 7. Mountains' names are - Kraunch, Vaaman, Andhkaarak, Ratn Shail, Devaavrit, Pundareek, and Dundubhi. All these Dweep are of double the size of their previous one. Their Varsh and mountains are also of double the size of the Varsh and mountains of their previous ones. Here Pushkar, Pushkal, Dhanya and Tithya are the four Varn and they worship Shree Hari. This Dweep is surrounded by buttermilk sea. And this sea is surrounded by Shaak Dweep.

Shaak Dweep is ruled by Bhavya's 7 sons - (1) Jalad, (2) Kumaar, (3) Sukumaar, (4) Maneevak, (5) Kushottar, (6) Modaakee, and (7) Drum. Their Varsh's names are on their names only. Udayagiri, Jaladhar, Raivat, Shyaam, Kodrak, Aambikesh, and Kesaree are their border mountains. There are 7 chief rivers (according to other Puraan, their names are - Sukumaaree, Kumaaree, Nalinee, Dhenukaa, Ikshu, Venukaa, and Gabhasti). Mag, Magadh, Maanasya and Mandag are the four Varn there. They worship Soorya Dev. Shaak Dweep is surrounded by Ksheer Saagar (milk sea). Ksheer Saagar is surrounded by Pushkar Dweep.

Pushkar Dweep is ruled by 2 sons of Savan - Mahaaveet and Dhaataki. Their Vrash's names are also on their names. There is only one border mountain named Maanasottar which is situated in its middle region (Vishnu Puraan gives both its height and width as 50,000 Yojan - 2/4/76) . There people live for 10,000 years. There people worship Brahmaa Jee. It is surrounded by sweet water. This sea's area is equal to the area of its Dweep.

The contents of these seas neither increases, nor decreases. In both Shukla and Krishn Paksh, only 510 fingers increase or decrease in the content of seas is seen in the Moon rise and Moon set - but it does not affect the amount of content of the sea.

Sweet water sea is surrounded by golden land which is double the size of Pushkar Dweep. No creature lives here. After this is Lokaalok Parvat which is extended up to 10,000 Yojan. One side of this Parvat is dark and that darkness is surrounded by And Kataah. Along with And Kataah, the whole Prithvi measures 500 million Yojan.

Bhuvan Kosh

Agni Dev said - "Prithvi's measurement is told 70,000 Yojan. Its height is 10,000 Yojan. Inside Prithvi, there are 7 Paataal. Each Paataal is 10,000 Yojan. 7 Paataal are - Atal, Vital, Nital, Prakaashmaan, Mahaatal, Sutal, Talaatal, and Rasaatal (or Paataal). Their lands are of black, yellow, red, white, kankar, stoney and golden respectively. Here live Daitya and Daanav live happily. Below all the Paataals is Shesh Naag Jee who is the form of Vishnu's Tamo Gun. He has innumerable qualities, that is why he is called Anant. He bears this Prithvi on his head. Below Prithvi, there are many Narak, but who is devotee of Vishnu, he does not fall in those Narak. Whatever area of Prithvi is lighted by the Sun, the same area is of sky (Nabho Lok or Antariksh).

100,000 Yojan far from Prithvi is Soorya Lok (Sun)
100,000 Yojan far from Soorya Lok is Chandramaa (Moon)
100,000 Yojan far from Chandramaa is Nakshatra group
200,000 Yojan far from Nakshatra is Budh (Mercury)
200,000 Yojan far from Budh is Shukra (Venus)
200,000 Yojan far from Shukra is Mangal (Kujaa or Mars)
200,000 Yojan far from Mangal is Brihaspati (Jupiter)
200,000 Yojan far from Brihaspati is Shanaishchar (Shani or Saturn)
100,000 Yojan far from Shanaishchar is Saptarshi (Great Bear)
100,000 Yojan far from Saptarshi is Dhruv Taaraa (Polar star)

Tri-Lok is only this much high. Dhruv is at the highest point of Bhoor Bhuvah Swah

10,000,000 Yojan far from Dhruv Lok is Mahar Lok - here live Bhrigu etc who live till Kalp ends.
20,000,000 Yojan far from Mahar Lok is Jan Lok where Sanakaadi Muni live
80,000,000 Yojan far from Mahar Lok is Tapo Lok where Vairaaj named Devta live
960,000,000 Yojan far from Mahar Lok is Satya Lok (Brahm Lok) - here live Devtaa and Muni who never die

Till one can go on foot, it is called Bhoo Lok
From Bhoo Lok to Soorya Lok is called Bhuvar Lok
From Soorya Lok to Dhruv Lok is called Swarg Lok - it is spread through 1,400,000 Yojan.

This is called Tri-Lok, and this is Brahmaand surrounded by And Kataah.
The same Brahmaand is surrounded by Water, Fire, Air, Space respectively.
Over all this there is a covering of Ahankaar. And Ahankaar is covered by Mahat Tattwa.
All these coverings are 10 times greater than the previous one respectively.
The last one is Pradhaan (Prakriti or Nature) and it has no limits, that is why it is immeasurable. The same is the cause of the whole Universe.
Innumerable Brahmaand like ours have been created from it.
As fire lives in wood or oil lives in sesame seeds, that Purush lives in Pradhaan.

These all combined, Pradhaan and Purush, are surrounded by Vishnu Shakti (Power). This Shakti is the cause of meeting and separation of Prakriti and Purush. The same Shakti becomes the cause of Kshobh (Vikaar) in those materials. Devtaa appear only with the help of Vishnu's Shakti

Soorya Dev's chariot is 9,000 Yojan long and its Harasaa is 18,000 Yojan long. Its Dhuree (axle) is of 15,700,000 Yojan long in which its wheel is fit. It has three Naabhi - morning, noon and afternoon. Samvatsar, Parivatsar, Idaavatsar, Anuvatsar and Vatsar are its five spokes. Six seasons are its six Nemi. Uttaraayan and Dakshinaaya are its two bodies. The whole Kaal Chakra (Time cycle) is in such a chariot. Soorya's another Dhuree is 45,500 Yojan long. Equal to both Dhuree's measurement is the measurement of its half Yug (half Jooaa). Its shorter Dhuree and its half Jooaa is based on Dhruv. Gaayatree, Brihatee, Ushnik, Jagatee, Trishtup, Anushtup and Pankti - these 7 Chhand are the 7 horses of Soorya's chariot. When Soorya appears, it is called sunrise; when it disappears it is called sunset.

From Prithvi to Dhruv - the whole region is destroyed in Pralay Kaal. Where Dhruv is located, the same place is Vishnu's third foot. From this place only Gangaa River has appeared. There is a star group which looks like Shishumaar (Soons) - it should be considered as the form of Vishnu Bhagavaan. Dhruv is located in the tail part of that Shishumaar Chakra. This Dhruv revolves itself and revolves other planets also. Every month Soorya's chariot is adorned with different Aaditya, Devtaa, Rishi, Gandharv, Apsaraa, Yaksh, Sarp and Raakshas. Only Soorya is the cause summer and winter, and water and rains.

Chandramaa's chariot has 3 wheels, and 10 white horses are yoked in its left and right side. He wanders in Nakshatra Lok in that chariot only. 333,333 Devtaa drink its rays. On the day of Amaavasyaa, only one Amaa named ray remains, and Pitar drink Amrit from that ray only. Chandramaa's son Budh's chariot is made of air and fire materials. 8 fast running horses are yoked in it. Shukra, Mangal, Brihaspati, Shanaishchar, Raahu and Ketu's chariots also have 8 horses each.

All Prithvi, Nakshatra, Lok, rivers, everything is the form of Vishnu. Whatever is there, and whatever is not there, everything is Vishnu. Who reads this Bhuvan Kosh attains Param Pad. Now I will tell you bout Jyotish."
