Puraan | 6-Naarad Puraan | 1-Poorv Bhaag
6-Naarad Puraan, 1-Poorv Bhaag, p 529-576 Fourth part of Poorv Bhaag of Naarad Puraan is about contents of each of the 18 Puraan and Vrat and fasts of all the days of the month. Vrat and Fasts Naarad Jee said to Sanaatan Jee - "I heard about all Puraan as Brahmaa Jee told them to Mareechi. Now please tell me about Tithi (Hindu calendar days) so that one can know about Vrat, fasts and worship of that Tithi." Sanaatan Jee said - "I tell you now the same starting from the first day, Pratipadaa to Amaavasyaa and Poornimaa." [The description of all days from Pratipadaa to Amaavasyaa and Poornimaa for all 12 months are given here from p 529 to p 574. Many of them are given in Bhavishya Puraan - Uttar Parv.] Soot Jee said - "Hey Braahman, This was the Naarad Puraan which I told you. This is like Ved and increases one's knowledge. Who reads this in Shivaalaya, among Braahman, in Vishnu temple, in Raameshwaram, in Kaanchee, Dwaarakaa, Haridwaar, Pushkar; on banks of any river with Bhakti he attains the fruit of all Yagya and Teerth, donations and penance. By keeping fast, or by eating only Havishya, who worships Naaraayan or Shiv and reads or listens this Puraan, he attains Siddhi. It describes Tapasyaa, Vrat, and their fruits, Mantra, Yantra, Vedaang, Saankhya (Gyaan) in brief. Who can explain this, then who else can be the greater teacher of human beings. After hearing this, one should feed sweets and Kheer to 100 Braahman and give Dakshinaa. As Sat Yug is the best in all Yug, Naaraayan among three Devtaa, mouth among all body parts, in the same way Naarad Puraan is the best Puraan among all Puraan." And Soot Jee went away after taking permission from Braahman. Naarad Puraan-Poorv Bhaag Ends Here
