16-Creation
6-Naarad Puraan, 1-Poorv Bhaag, p 153-156

This second part of Poorv Bhaag of Naarad Puraan is very big - 153-400=250 pages. It contains a few chapters on grammar astrology, and Chhand. Most of this information is omitted here.

Creation

Naarad Jee said - "Sanandan Jee, From where this movable and immovable world has sprung up and where does it go at the time of Pralaya?" Sanandan Jee said - "Once Bharadwaaj Muni asked the same question from Maharshi Bhrigu, so I tell you the same whatever he told to him. Bhrigu Jee said - "Maharshi know whatever Aadi Purush (the first man) by the name of A-Vyakt, that A-Vyakt is indestructible and immortal. All things spring from Him and subside in Him. He showed up a lotus flower from His navel, and from it appeared Brahmaa Jee who is like Ved. His another name is Vidhi. Only he has created all these beings. Thus in this whole world, only Vishnu is existing everywhere. Only He is there in the form of soul in everybody."

Bharadwaaj asked - "What is Jeev? Even after being destructed this body, it is not seen anywhere." Bhrigu Jee said - "This Jeev takes up a body made of five Bhoot - Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. The same body experiences smell, taste, hearing, touch and seeing. This Jeev exists in all parts of the body and also experiences the same along with the body. When these Tattwa (elements) are separated from one another then the Jeev also disappears abandoning this body. But the Jeev doesn't get destroyed after the body is destroyed. Who talk about the destruction of Jeev, because the body has been destroyed, they are ignorant.

People should try to control their greed and anger. This is the only good knowledge among all the knowledge and this is the self-control. Greed and anger are always ready to destroy people's grace, that is why one should abandon them completely. Whose all actions are without bondage of desires and who has abandoned his everything to achieve this freedom, only he is wise. One should never adopt for violence, and try to win his Indriyaan by his Buddhi (intellect). Whatever are the subjects for attachments, he should detached himself from them.

Whatever can be known through Indriyaan, it is all Vyakt, and whatever is known a little only through guess, that is called A-Vyakt. Control your mind through Praanaayaam and think about nothing of this world. Only Satya (truth) is Vrat, Tapasyaa and cleanliness. Only Satya creates people, Satya takes takes care of this world, and people go to Swarg Lok through Satya only. A-Satya (lie) is the form of Tamo Gun and Tamo Gun takes one to Narak (Hell).  Creation of this world is full of physical and mental sorrows. Even the pleasures of this world bring sorrows in the end. There are only pleasures in Swarg, there are only sorrows in Narak, while both are present in this Lok, but the real joy is only in Moksh."

Four Aashram

Bharadwaaj said - "Please tell me about four Aashram, what do you think about them?" Bhrigu Jee said - "Brahmaa Jee has prescribed these four Aashram to protect Dharm in the world. The first one is living in Gurukul (Brahmcharya Aashram). In this Aashram, cleanliness, Sanskaar, discipline, Brahmcharya and Vrat etc should be followed, Sandhyaa should be performed both times - morning and evening, give all the alms to Guru as you bring, obey Guru, study well. The second one is Grihasth Aashram.

After finishing the education, who desire for the fruits of their Dharm, they should follow family life. In this Aashram, Dharm, Arth (wealth), and Kaam (fulfilling desires), all the three are achieved. In this one, one should not do any bad Karm and earn money through good work only in a justified way. This Aashram is called the root of all Aashram. Brahmchaaree, Vaanprasthee and Sanyaasee all depend upon Grihasth Aashram, because all of them get food from them. Vaanprasthee people eat good food and wander around with the purpose of self study and pilgrimage, so a Grihasth man should felicitate them very well, serve them well. From whose house an A-Tithi goes back disappointed, he gives his sins to him and takes his Punya with him. Devtaa and Pitar also get their food from these Grihasthee people through Yagya. Producing children satisfies Brahmaa Jee. One must have love and sympathetic feelings for everybody in this Aashram.

The third one is Vaanprasth Aashram. After completing Grihasth (family) duties, one should be Vaanprasthee. These people live in Teerth places, near rivers and water falls. They do Tapasyaa in forest and wander around. They don't use normal clothes, food and pleasures. They eat limited and regulated wild grains, fruits, roots and leaves only. They sit only at their fixed place and sleep anywhere on ground. They don't trim their hair, nails, beard and mustache etc. They collect Samidhaa, flowers etc for worship and Havan etc. Since they have no protection from heat, cold or rains, their skin becomes rough. They become very thin due to following strict discipline. The fourth Aashram is Sanyaas Aashram. After detaching themselves from worldly things and people, abandoning Yagya and other Karm also, such people become completely detached and Sanyaasee. They treat gold and dust alike and friend and enemy alike. They don't live at one place, they stay in temples, live in caves, under a tree, or in villages or cities.

They can never kill anybody, and who wanders making all others fearless, he also doesn't fear from them. He goes to Brahm Lok in the end.
