3-Vishnu Puraan, Dwiteeya Ansh, p 139-146 Soorya (The Sun)-2 Contd... from Previous Page Paraashar Muni further said - "Whatever speed of Soorya is between his coming and going in one year, the difference between the two Nakshatra (constellations) of that whole path is 180 Mandal. Soorya's chariot is equipped with different Aaditya, Rishi, Gandharv, Apsaraa, Yaksh, Sarp snakes) and Raakshas Gan. In Chaitra Maas - it is equipped with Dhaataa Aaditya, Kratusthalaa Apsaraa, Pulastya Rishi, Vaasuki Sarp, Rathbrit Yaksh, Heti Raakshas and Tumbaroo Gandharv. These seven are the Lords of Chaitra month. In Vaishaakh Maas - Soorya's Power and Vaishnav Power Maitreya Muni said - "You said that on Soorya's chariot all seven Gan are caused by winter or summer seasons, but you didn't tell me what is the function of Soorya? If the seven Gan cause rains, winter and summer, the what does Soorya do? And why it is said that rains are because of Soorya? And if the function of these seven Gan is the same as of Soorya, then why is it said that now Soorya has risen, now Soorya is in middle and now Soorya has set?" Paraashar Muni said - "Soorya is one of the seven Gan. He becomes specific because of being principal in that group of seven Gan. Vishnu has there Paraa powers - Rig, Yaju and Saam. These Ved provide heat to Soorya and destroy all sins when they are worshipped. To maintain this world, Vishnu lives in Soorya with His three powers. Whoever Soorya is principal in whichever month, these powers reside in him - Rig power in morning, Yaju in afternoon and Saam in evening. Thus this Vishnu power always resides in that Aaditya whoever is the Lord of that month. This three-Gun power does not reside only in Soorya, but also resides in Brahmaa, Vishnu and Mahaadev. In the beginning of the creation Brahmaa has Rig power, at the time of its maintenance Vishnu is with Yaju power and in the end Rudra is with Saam power. That is why the sound of Saam is unholy. [Because Rudra is destructive, that is why his Saam has been regarded as unholy, therefore at the time of singing Saam (in the night) the study of Rig and Yajur Ved is prohibited.] Thus this Vaishnavee power may be found in Aaditya. Muni pray the same Soorya, Gandharv praise him, Apsaraa dance, Raakshas are behind the chariot, Sarp (snakes) adorn the chariot and Yaksh take the reins. Baal Khilyaadi Rishi are all around the chariot. Three-Gun Bhagavaan neither is born, nor dies. He is eternal These seven Gan are separate from Him. As one sees his shadow in a mirror, in the same way, this Vaishnavee power exists in every Aaditya in every month. Soorya, the cause of day and night, always revolves around satisfying all Pitar Gan, Dev Gan, and human beings. Soorya has a Sushumnaa named ray which nourishes Moon in Shukl Paksh and then in Krishn Paksh, Dev Gan take those Kalaa one by one. When Krishn Paksh is over, then after 14th day, Pitar Gan take the two-Kalaa Moon. Thus Soorya nourishes Pitar Gan also. In this way Soorya nourishes Dev Gan fortnightly, Pitar Gan monthly and human beings daily." Nine Planets and Other Lok Paraashar further said - "Moon's chariot is of three wheels. Ten white horses pull it. The chariot's base is Dhruv Taara (Polar star). and enjoying Ashwinee etc 27 Nakshatra (constellations which are actually his wives) located at Naag Veethi. Like Soorya, his rays also increase and decrease in a specific fashion. Like Soorya's chariot, Moon's chariot also is pulled by his horses for one Kalp once the horses are yoked in his chariot. When Dev Gan take Moon's one Kalaa everyday, Soorya re-nourishes him with his one ray. As Dev Gan take his one Kalaa, Soorya re-nourishes him with his one ray from the first day itself (Padvaa or Pratipadaa) of Shukl Paksh. Thus when Moon is nourished in half month, Dev Gan again start taking Amrit from him. 333,333 (3 Lakh 33 thousand) Devtaa drink Amrit from Moon. When the Moon remains with two Kalaa and enters Soorya'a Mandal and is under his Amaa named ray, that day is called Amaavasyaa (new Moon)." On that day, he first enters water, then resides in trees and creepers etc, then goes in Soorya. While Chandramaa resides in trees and creepers (on new Moon's day), one should not cut them or pluck even one leaf from them. If they do that they are attached to the sin of killing a Braahman. The Amrit ray which comes out on Amaavasyaa, Pitar Gan are satisfied with that one ray for one month. Budh's (son of Chandramaa) chariot is made of Vaayu (air) and Agni (fire) and eight very fast running horses are yoked in that. Shukra (Venus) and Mangal's (Mars) chariot are also very great. Eight horses are yoked in Mangal's chariot. Brihaspati (Jupiter) sits in a golden chariot, yoked with eight horses in each Rashi (sign) in the end of the year. Shanaishchar's (Saturn) chariot is created out of Aakaash and he travels very slowly in that chariot. Hey Maitreya, All these planets, constellations and stars revolve around tied with Dhruv with airborne string. As many are stars, the same number are strings. Now you listen to that Shishumaar Chakra and the location of Dhruv which I have described before. Uttaanpaad is its upper chin, and Yagya is its lower chin. Naaraayan is in its heart, Dharm is its forehead, Ashwinee Kumaar are in its both feet, Varun and Aryamaa are in its both thighs. Samvatsar is its penis; Agni, Mahendra, Kashyap and Dhruv are located in its tail part. These four stars never set. Lotus-shaped Earth has appeared from Vishnu's concrete form. Thus all trees, mountains, forests, rivers, seas etc everything is Vishnu. And whatever is there, or whatever is not there that is also Vishnu. When Jeev (soul) through spiritual knowledge becomes attributeless, and when his all Karm (actions) are over and he becomes pure, then he does not feel the need of fruits. Which is always changing, is not eternal and real. Soil may become a pot or a pitcher or a flower vase, then if Jeev does not see the soil in them then what real thing he sees then? There is nothing anywhere real, only Gyaan (knowledge) is truth, rest is all untruth. I told you about Yagya, animals, all Ritwik, Som, Devtaa, all in Karm Yog. All enjoyments of Bhoor Lok are the fruits of these Karm only. This Jeev goes in these Lok only under the influence of his Karm. That is why a man should do the same that can join him with Bhagavaan.
