Gokarn Uplifts Dhundhukaaree Soot Jee said - "Shaunak Jee, After the father had left for the forest, one day Dhundhkaaree beat his mother and asked her - "Tell me where is the money, otherwise I will beat you by my feet." His mother got frightened and committed suicide by jumping in a well the same night." When father and mother were not there in the house, Gokarn set off for Teerth Yaatraa. He was neither happy nor sad with this event because he had neither any friend, nor any foe. After brother had left, Dhundhukaaree started living in his house with 5 prostitutes. Since he had to maintain them he had to earn lots of money and he could not earn it in a justified way so he had to adopt unjustified ways. Once those prostitutes asked him to give them some ornaments, so he brought some money and gave them many beautiful clothes and ornaments. Seeing so much wealth, those prostitutes thought that since he stole that money, one day he would surely be caught by the King and the King will definitely punish him; so it is better if they themselves should kill him and run away with that money. So after he had slept, they tied him with ropes and tried to kill him but he did not die. They got worried seeing this, then they filled his mouth with red hot coals. After all he died and they buried his body. When asked by the people they told that that he had gone far to earn money. A learned man should not believe wicked women. They are like sword. Thus these women took all the money of Dhundhukaaree and killed him. After his death, Dhundhukaaree became Pret because of his Karm. He ran here and there always hungry and thirsty, but nobody seemed to have given him any kind of shelter. After some time Gokarn Jee came to know about the death of Dhudhukaaree, so he did his Shraaddh in Gayaa and came to his house to sleep there hiding from others. Seeing sleeping in his house Dhundhukaaree showed him his terrible form - sometimes sheep, sometimes elephant, sometimes horse; then in the end he appeared as a human being. Gokarn Jee understood that he was some Jeev who had got bad Gati, that is why he was showing up in several forms. So he asked him - "Who are you? Why have you appeared like this and how have you got this condition? Are you a Raakshas or Pishaach?" Hearing this Dhundhukaaree started crying. He had no strength to speak, so he only pointed out to him. Gokarn Jee took some Abhimantrit water and sprinkled over him, then only he was able to speak. He said - "I am Dhudhukaaree, your brother. I have destroyed my Braahman Dharm myself, there is no limit of my sins. I was killed cruelly by women and now I am in Pret Yoni. At least now I am better that I can drink air. O My Brother, You are very kind, please save me from this condition." Gokarn Jee said - "This is very surprising. I did Pind Daan for you in Gayaa, then why didn't you become free? And if you have not become free by Gayaa Shraaddh, then there is no other way to attain Mukti. Only you tell me that what should I do now for you?" Pret said - "Even hundreds of Gayaa Shraaddh cannot free me, only you have to think about the way to free me." Gokarn Jee said - "If hundreds of Gayaa Shraaddh cannot free you, then it seems impossible to free you from this Yoni. Still, for the time being you live at your place fearlessly till I think some way for your Mukti." The whole night Gokarn Jee could not sleep. He kept thinking abut him, but found no solution. In the morning many village people came to meet him. Gokarn Jee told them the night incident. Among them some were Gyaanee, they also turned their Shaastra pages for the solution, but found no way. Then Gokarn Jee prayed Soorya Dev to tell him some way. Hearing this Soorya Dev said to him from a distance - "Only Bhaagvat's week-long Paaraayan can save him. Do that." Gokarn Jee got ready to read Bhaagvat. Many people started gathering there to hear it. When Gokarn Jee sat on Vyaas' seat, that Pret also came there to hear it and started looking for some place to sit. He saw a bamboo pole with 7 knots in it. He sat in its bottom hole to hear the Kathaa. Since he was in air form he could not sit everywhere, that is why he entered the bamboo pole. Gokarn Jee appointed a Braahman as the chief listener and started telling Bhaagvat Kathaa from its first Skandh. When the Kathaa ended in the evening, everybody was surprised to see that one knot of the bamboo pole had burst out. In the same way its all 7 knots burst out in 7 days and Dhundhukaaree got Mukti from that Pret Yon on the 7th day at the end of the Bhaagvat Kathaa. He assumed the Divine form and appeared before everybody. He said - "Brother, God bless you, you gave me Mukti from this Yoni by telling this Bhaagvat Kathaa. When somebody sits to hear this week-long Kathaa, all kinds of sins tremble with fear and burn after hearing this Kathaa. Learned people have said in Dev assembly - "Who has not heard Bhaagvat Kathaa in Bhaarat Varsh, his life is worthless. It is worthless to nourish this mortal body if one does not hear Bhaagvat Kathaa. There are three Gati (ends) of this body - if it is buried, worms eat it; if some animal eats it, it is excreted out; and if it is burnt then it turns into ashes. In such conditions why a man does not do a Karm which gives eternal fruit, through this mortal body? Where the knots of a dried bamboo pole can burst hearing that Kathaa; what is the wonder if at the same place the knots of one's heart are also opened (means their heart becomes purified)." Dhundhukaaree was talking like thus that a Vimaan came with Vishnu's Paarshad to take him along. He sat on that Vimaan and those Paarshad were about to take him that Gokarn Jee asked them - "Hey Paarshad, Many people are sitting here who have heard this Kathaa, then why didn't you bring a Vimaan for these people also? All have heard this Kathaa with the same feelings then why this discrimination?" The Paarshad said - "Gokarn Jee, This discrimination is because of the difference in their hearing the Kathaa. Hence the difference in its fruit. When they will hear this Kathaa again, this difference might disappear. Although everybody has heard this Kathaa, but not like him. This Pret has heard the Kathaa keeping fast for 7 nights, he has thought over it also. Whichever Gyaan is not strengthened after obtaining it, it becomes useless. In the same way, hearing becomes useless if proper attention is not paid to it; and Jap becomes useless if the man's mind is not under his control. All these should also be considered as useless and already destroyed - a country without Vaishnav people, a Shraaddh done by a bad Braahman, donation given to a unworthy person, and a family without good conduct. Trust in Guru's words, feeling of politeness, control on mind's bad habits, and faithfulness in Kathaa - if one follows these things, he surely gets the complete fruit of hearing the Kathaa. When they will hear this Kathaa again, surely they will go to Vaikunth. And Gokarn Jee, You will attain Go Lok by the hands of Krishn Himself." After this Gokarn Jee again told this Kathaa in Shraavan Maas. At that time all people heard it keeping fast for 7 days. Hey Naarad Jee, What happened after the Kathaa, listen to that. At that time many Vimaan appeared along with Vishnu. Bhagavaan blew His Paanchjanya conch, embraced Gokarn Jee and took him along with him. He gave all others also His own form and took them also to His Lok. Muni Shaandilya always read this Kathaa in Chitrakoot. If it is read in Shraaddh, it gives peace to Pitar, and who read it daily, they attain Moksh.
