According to Agni Puraan, p 109, Vishwakarmaa Ling are of 141,400 types of Ling; but the
reference is found only for 14,420 types of Ling.
Skand Puraan i.II.33.27... says
--bathing Ling in pure water, the whole universe from Brahmaa to a blade of grass is propitiated,
--bathing Ling with Panchaamrit is tantamount to bathing and propitiating the Pitri,
--offering seasonal flowers in worship of Ling is worshipping the whole universe.
--if a talented man offers Naivedya to Ling, it is tantamount to feeding the whole universe.
Whatever is offered to Ling in
worship, large or little, brings joy to all. As Agni is the all-devouring mouth of Devtaa,
Ling is the mouth of all worlds. If one wants
Purushaarth - Dharm, Arth, Kaam and Moksh (virtue, wealth, love, and
liberation), Har-Shiv should be worshipped. He brings all three worlds
to his devotee.
Skand Puraan,
Chap 13, Verses 144b-194 indicate the beings, the type of Ling they
worshipped, and the Mantra Jaap they did. This is not a full list - it lists only
59 types of Ling out of 100. The Mantra constituted Shat Rudreeya (100 names of Rudra or Shiv).
Vishwakarmaa, the celestial carpenter, is the designer and manufacturer
of Ling of disparate material for the Devtaa to worship. The Devtaa's
names have been arranged alphabetically for easy search.
