Pavamaan Sookt
See also     Sookt;     Naaraayan Sookt

Pavamaan Sookt or Punyah Vachanam is nothing but blessing words by Braahman and is performed for cleansing the place, such as after the child birth on the 10th day. For this Varun Dev is invoked in a Kumbh (pitcher) filled with water and fixing mango leaves , Coconut on top with some cardamom and cloves put inside water, and the Pavamaan Sookt is recited if Ved Abhyaas has been learnt. This water is sprinkled all over the house and a little bit is swallowed too by one and all.

Similarly after the passing away of a family member this is done on the 10th day and repeated again on the 13th day. Some very very orthodox people get it done from outside and bring the water to be sprinkled all over the house even on all the clothes etc inside cuoboards.
Even in daily Poojaa we do Kalash Sthaapanaa and invite Gangaa, Yamunaa, Narmadaa, Sindhu, Kaaveree to be present in the Kalash Teerth and this water is sprinkled all over. So it is Pavamaan Sookt recited and called Punya Vachanam.

If any Ved recital CDs are sold by various people or traders like Giri Trading Co. look whether it contains this Sookt.
If you want to learn how to do it yourself then you can do it except in simplified form and not with Ved recitals as it needs the services of a Ved Pundit. There is a too simplified version also but that is only purifying the place for ordinary events at home - nothing more
