1-General Questions-4
Namak Kaa Haq Adaa Karanaa (paying the debt of the salt)
In MBH, several people have to pay
the debt of eating salt of Dhritraashtra or Duryodhan
(1) First Dronaachaarya did that by refusing teaching archery to Karn.
(2) Dronaachaarya again did it by refusing Karn to show his skills in
the show with Kaurav and Paandav.
(3) He did it again by asking the right thumb from Eklavya when he knew
that he did not even know him. Since Arjun on seeing the prowess of Eklavya
at archery, got perturbed and when Dronaachaarya on enquiring from Eklavya
learnt that he used to treat him as a Guru, Dronaachaarya had no other
alternative left except to ask his right thumb in Guru Dakshinaa. In order
to allow Arjun to be the best Archer, he had either to kill Eklavya, or else
take his Guru Dakshinaa in such away that he could never be even a good archer.
He did the latter, which was the best he could do under those circumstances.
Why certain people do what, due to what reasons or under what circumstances,
we do not know and all of us have our own ways to hide our actions in the right
manner.
(4) All - Bheeshm, Drone, Kripaa and Vidur sat silently to see the injustice
and cheating of Duryodhan and Shakuni while playing Dice Game.
(5) Then they all saw Draupadee's Cheer Haran too.
Chiranjeevee
Vishnu has taken many Avataar since His Varaah Avataar, but no Avataar is said to be immortal, then why only Parashuraam Jee is regarded as
immortal?
Ashwatthaamo Bali Vyaasah Hanumaanshch Vibheeshanah
Kripaah Parashuraamashch Saptaite Chiranjeevinah
Geetaa-1
I have seen many people citing Geetaa's 10/35 Shlok meaning as "Krishn
says that amongst the Mantra I am the Gayatree Mantra". But this seems
wrong interpretation to me, because according to the Shlok, He says - "Amongst
the Chhand I am the Gaayatree [Chhand]" - not that He is the Gaayatree
Mantra.
Human and Celestial Years
In
MBH, Anushaasan Parv, Chap 14, Yudhishthir requests Bheeshm to recite
Shiv's 1,000 names, but Bheeshm expresses his inability to describe Shiv
and requests Krishn to describe them. Krishn tells the context that how
once He had the Darshan of Shiv. He tell the story of Upamanyu as how He
met him and tells that how Upamanyu pleased Shiv. In that reference Upamanyu
tells Krishn that he "I then applied myself to the practice of the
austere penances for gratifying Shankar. For 1,000 years I stood on my
left toe. After that I passed 1,000 years, subsisting only upon fruits.
The next 1,000 years I passed, subsisting upon the fallen leaves of trees.
The next 1,000 years I passed, subsisting upon water only. After that I
passed 700 years, subsisting on air alone. In this way, I adored Mahaadev
for a full thousand years of the celestials."
With this statement Upamanyu
took 1,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 + 700 years to please Shiv and he tells
that he took full 1,000 years of celestials. It means 4,700 human years =
1,000 celestial years. This measurement of Time does not match with Bhaagvat
Puraan Time measurement which is 360 human years = 1 celestial year. See
Time
Measurement. According to Bhaagvat Puraan to complete 1,000 celestial
years he should have spent 360,000 human years.
Brahm Festival at Viraat Nagar
It is said that the Brahm-festival started in the
4th month of the Paandav's A-Gyaatvaas; while Keechak's kicking occurred around
the 11 and 1/2 month of their A-Gyaatvaas. Does it mean that the Brahm-festival
was continuing for 7 and 1/2 months?
I found
Brahm-festival on
Internet, but that also does not last for so many days or months. It lasts only
nine days. It is mostly celebrated in southern India. 7 and 1/2 months seems too
long for a festival to continue.
Were People in MBH
Times as Heavy as an Elephant?
Refer to Kuntee's statement to Yudhishthir
(G-3-Youth/4)
when she says that she had known Bheem's strength as he brought all his
brothers and her together on his arms and shoulders from Baaranaavat -
"Bheem has the strength of 10,000 elephants. Did you see that how he brought all
of us together, each of us as heavy as an elephant, from Baaranaavat? Soon after
his birth he fell on the rock, and by the weight of his body the rock got
broken. Then I knew the strength of Bheem."
Who
Broke the War Rules First?
This war was supposed to be 'Dharm Yudh' as Krishn had stated several times,
with specific rules set by Bheeshm, but Paandav violated them all at every stage
of war, be it the killing of Bheeshm, Jayadrath, Drone, Karn or Suyodhan (the
name Duryodhan itself is an indication of sycophancy to victors of war), . On
the contrary not a single violation of the war code can be found from Kaurav
side of course except the
killing of Abhimanyu. The war
itself was culmination of illegitimate claim of Paandav to the kingdom -
--Paandav were the sons of Paandu's wives but not his own, while Kaurav
were all Dritraashtra's sons, and
in any case Paandu was not the king of Hastinaapur, Dhritraashtra was the king
and the custom then was to pass the kingdom to the king's son and not to divide
it between sons of king's brothers.
MBH war was an
illegitimate war won by Paandav by illegitimate means, but victory is victory
and the victor always gets all kudos. Mahaabhaarat may have been inspired by
actual events but it seems to be a poet's fancy that dominates the work.
