Bheeshm came to Satyavatee along with Rishi Vyaas. Vyaas greeted her and asked - "What is the matter Mother?" Satyavatee said - "I have a big problem, I don't know how to say it to you." Vyaas said -" Father told you that you will be responsible fore making history of Bhaarat, so it seems that now you are feeling its need. I know everything. Perhaps for the same reason only he brought me in this world. What are your orders?"

Satyavatee said - "When you know everything, then why do you ask me?" Vyaas said - "I am asking because it is not the problem of only mother and son. It is related with others also - Hastinaapur, Bhaarat Varsh; and you are not only my mother but also is Raaj Maataa." Satyavatee said - "Putra, The problem is that Hastinaapur's throne is empty, and Raajaa's eldest son has taken vow to remain Brahmchaaree for lifelong. So to produce a son from Ambikaa and Ambaalikaa is your duty, because you are my eldest son."

Vyaas said - "But mother, I need some time to obey this order. I was in Saadhanaa (Tap), I got your orders and I came here immediately. I am not in a presentable condition to them. Please give me one year time." Satyavatee said - "I don't have one year, Son. Whatever I say, do it." "As you say, Mother, send them to me."

Satyavatee went to Ambikaa and said - "This Mrityu Lok is a place for test. Here everybody has to appear in test and go away. You still have one test more to appear. A wife's duty is that if her husband dies without doing his duty, then she should complete that duty. My sons' duty was to give Hastinaapur its Crown prince, but they died without fulfilling that duty, now it is your duty to fulfill their duty. Rishi Vyaas is waiting for you in his room."

Ambikaa did go to Vyaas, but she got frightened to see him and she closed her eyes. She trembled and sweated. Later Vyaas told Satyavatee that her child will be blind because she closed her eyes. Satyavatee exclaimed only - "Oh God." Then she sent Ambaalikaa to Vyaas. As she came inside the door, Vyaas said - "You are standing at the door of the future of Hastinaapur. Don't get frightened. Come inside." Later Vyaas told Satyavatee that although she did not close her eyes to see him but still got yellow in color from fear. So her child will be in yellow in color and he will not keep good health.

Satyavatee was not happy with all this, so she asked for one more chance. She went to Ambikaa again and asked her to go to Vyaas but since she was too frightened, she did not want to go. Ambaalikaa was also not ready to go. Then Ambikaa sent her maid to Vyaas. She felt very fortunate to see Rishi Vyaas, so she was all the time happy and comfortable. Vyaas told Satayavatee that this time Ambikaa sent her maid. "What? She sent her maid?" "Yes, mother, She sent her maid. She will give birth to a very knowledgeable boy whose glory will spread all around the world. He will be remembered for his Dharm and conduct. He will be the incarnation of Darm Raaj. To which two princes he will serve, they will have their own place in the history of Bhaarat Varsh." And Vyaas went away saying that "It is not good for a Rishi to take a woman more than three times, that was also on the order of mother, so please, now you don't call me again." Satyavatee remained standing looking at the future of Hastinaapur.

As the nature has three Gun (qualities) - Sat, Raj, and Tam; in the same way as the mothers had their mentality, they gave birth to three children. Ambikaa gave birth to blind Dhritraashtra, Ambaalikaa gave birth to yellow complexioned Paandu, and Ambikaa's maid gave birth to intelligent Vidur. These names were suggested by Vyaas only.
