Thus Vichitraveerya was married to Ambikaa and Ambaalikaa. Vichitraveerya was very happy and passed his days in all kinds of pleasures with his wives, because Bheeshm was already there to take care of the kingdom. After a while he got ill and passed away leaving his wives childless. This event broke Satyavatee. She did not know what to do. She considered it her responsibility to give Hastinaapur its king, but now she had no means to do that. She had already removed Bheeshm from the throne but she could not give the Crown Prince to Hastinaapur. Her both sons died childless. Now where from she can bring the king of Hastinaapur? Bheeshm told her that events and accidents had no will power. If you had not wanted that what you wanted, still this had happened whatever had happened now, or otherwise it has found some other way. Satyavatee asked - "And what will happen to your vow that "you will serve Kuru Vansh". Now is the time that you should fulfill your vow. When Kuru Vansh is not there then whom will you serve? Whom you will protect? Now you are the only person who can open the way to grow Kuru Vansh. On one side is your promise, and on the other side is your vow. Judgment is yours. According to tradition, you marry Ambikaa and Ambaalikaa and produce children, and that is my order also as mother." Bheeshm said - "To obey you is my Dharm, but I am vow bound, so I am helpless. And I took that vow because of you, I am sure, you cannot forget this." Satyavatee said - "I remember the vow and the circumstances also in which you took that vow, but now the circumstances are changed. My both sons are dead. So as an Aapad Dharm (desperate cure or emergency duty) I am suggesting you this course of action. I am your mother so it is your duty to please me. That is the greater Dharm than all he vows you have taken." Till now Bheeshm was trying to convince her with politeness, but now he was getting angry. His whole life moved before his eyes like a motion picture within moments, he said - "Mother you don't know the strength of my mind. You do not know the firmness of my Dharm. In fact you do not know me at all. Nothing can make me to do what you want me to do. The earth may lose he perfume, water may lose its sweetness, the Sun may lose its brilliance, the Moon may lose its coolness, even the Devtaa of Dharm, Dharm Raaj, can abandon his Dharm, but I will never swerve from the path of Truth." Daashraaj also came to request Bheeshm to take back his vow, saying that "I took that vow from you, now I free you from that vow"; but Bheeshm did not agree for it. Then Satyavatee couldn't find any other solution of this problem except to invite Rishi Vyaas. Bheeshm asked "Why Rishi Vyaas?", Satyavatee said "Ask him only." Bheeshm went to Rishi Vyaas. Vyaas said - "I know why have you come here." Bheeshm said - "Then what are the orders for me?" Vyaas said - "Raaj Maataa Satyvatee is not your mother that is why you did not obey her. No word can be higher than the mother and motherland." Bheeshm said - "Only that person can decide this who has taken the vow. Isn't it?" Vyaas said - "Yes, I am sorry, I crossed my limits, but the truth is the same that because Satyavatee is not your mother, that is why you did not obey her. But she is my mother." "Your mother?" "Yes, my mother." "How?" Vyaas said - "Once Rishi Paraashar was crossing Yamunaa in Satyavatee's boat. Satyavatee didn't recognize him, at this he said - "I am Paraashar. Human being cannot recognize himself, then how can he recognize others? But you should know about yourself that you have not taken birth here only to carry travelers across Yamunaa. Future is waiting for you. Now the time has come that you should get changed from Matsyagandhaa (whose body smells like fish) to Yojangandhaa (whose sweet smell spreads up to several Yojan), that your smell tells the future even 10 Kos ahead that you are coming. But before that a knowledgeable child has to born from you." Satyavatee said - "But I am unmarried." Paraashar said - "I know, you will still remain unmarried, don't worry." Then Paraashar created a fog around them and gave her a child. And that child is me."
