Shringee Rishi
[From   Mahaabhaarat,   and  Bhaagvat Puraan]

Shringee Rishi was the son of Shameek Rishi. Once Pareekshit, ( Abhimanyu's son), came at Shameek's Aashram while out for hunting spree. He was very hungry and thirsty and was expecting hospitality from the Rishi. But as he arrived there, he was in the state of Samaadhi so he did not know that somebody was there to be attended. Pareekshit was so hungry and thirsty that when he did not get proper attention, he put a dead snake around his neck in anger and went away from there.

Shringee was also very powerful. At that time he was playing with his friends, when he heard that Raajaa has put the dead snake around his father's neck, he became very angry and gave him Shaap that "On the seventh day from today Raajaa will die from the bite of Takshak Naag."

As Shameek Muni came to know about his Shaap, he became very sad about all this. He said to his son - "You should not have done this to Raajaa. He takes care of all people of his kingdom, he should not be treated like this." When Raajaa came to know about this, he consulted his ministers, Rishi etc as what he should do during thos seven days so that he could get emancipation . They suggested him to hear Bhaagvat Kathaa during those seven days. He heard it and left his body before Takshak bit him.

A story comes about Shringee Rishi with regard to Kaamadaa Ekaadashee Vrat Kathaa, that he helped Lalit Gandharv's wife Lalitaa to regain his former form of Gandharv.
