The word Raashi occurs in Chhaandogya Upanishad 7.1.2 -- Rig vedam bhagavodhyemi Yajur Vedam Saam Vedam Atharv aṇam Chaturtham Itihaas Puraanam Panchamam Vedaanaam Vedam pitrya Raashim Daivam Nidhim vaako-vaakyamekaayanam deva vidyaa brahm Vidyaam bhoot Vidyaam nakshatra Vidyaam sarp Devajana Vidyaametad bhagavo dhyemi We are
told that the Ved are A-Paurusheya, and existed before any other work was
created. And in that hierarchy, after the Ved, the Vaalmeeki Raamaayan (an
Itihaas) is supposed to have been revealed and then the other Itihaas -
means the
Chhaandogya Upanishad is a part of Talavakar Brahm of the Saam Ved. Here
Naarad Jee says that he has read the 5th Ved means Itihaas - Puraan also,
and he is quoted to have said it to Sanat Kumaar. Here the question is
were the Ved revealed Naarad
Jee is the Maanas Putra of Brahmaa Jee, and so are the four Sanat Kumaar.
They are supposed to have been around from the very first day of the
Creation, which started a couple of billion years back as per the
Pauraanik and Saiddhaantik lore, whereas the Mahaabhaarat war is supposed
to have taken place at the earliest in 3200 BC, though it is extremely
doubtful that The
Puraan were created much after that epic. What is all the more surprising
is that Naarad Puraan which is said to have been And
that means that Chhaandogya Upanishad was “revealed” much after that date.
Historical records tell us that Aadi Shankar was around the 8th century
AD. And since he has talked of all the 18 Puraan, and the Ayanaansh Shlok
were added to the Soorya Siddhaant as well as Naarad Puraan after the date
of Aadi Shankar. Similarly, this dialoge between Naarad Rishi and Sanat
Kumaar also must have been added to it much after all the Puraan had been
compiled, because unless Naarad Rishi had read all the Puraan, and even
the books on "Nakshatra-Vidyaa" he would not have claimed having done so.
And it can be anybody’s guess Raashi since they are already there in all the Puraan, including the Naarad Puraan, for anybody to see.
