If we broadly interpret, Yantra are storage devices, while, Tantra are Energy converters. This world is Tri-Gunaatamak. All 3 Gun are always present in everything but in varying proportions. The design is Yantra. But the whole of the physical structure is Tantra. All 4 Varn are prescribed only Saatwik things at the personal level, but, for the sake of professional activity, Kshatriya are allowed to use Yantra and
Tantra because in a war, quick results in short periods of time are more important than long term effects. Survival is more important, to achieve the long term objectives. And everybody has only 24 hours per day.

--Yantra are the special markings, made of numbers, geometrical figures, dots, figures etc, engraved on a metal such as gold, silver, copper or any other metal; printed or hand-written on a paper or cloth.
--They may be kept in a worship place to worship daily or just like that; or to wear on upper arms or wrists or neck.
--They may be for some specific purpose, such as for wealth, for health or
--They may be for some Devtaa or Devee, such as Shree Yantra is for Lakshmee Jee.
--Many times they are very effective and affect quickly.
--Most of the times they need to be energized

About Yantra..
Well the shape and size of Yantra is same, except for---
(1) Absence of Beej Mantra on Yantra
2) Preparation on in different type of metal for amulet (Taabeez)

And MOST importantly----
Here Yantra are given for pacification of planet, while I have learnt them for strengthening of planets.
Its like the same issues with gemstones...

For example, Some people make you wear Gessonite (Gomed) to get better results from Raahu during Raahu Mahaa Dashaa while some people make you stay miles away from it... same for wearing Blue Sapphire (Neelam) during Shani Mahaa-dashaa and so on... While other people make you stay strictly away from these stones when Raahu, Saturn etc are being malefic.

I have found the second option to be better, gemstones and "even its Taantrik Yantra are meant to strengthen a planet. If a person cannot afford quality Yantra, at least he can wear Yantra as ring in prescribed metal and finger OR he can make amulet (Taabeez) out of it.

There is only one little twist in the story though. The Vidhi Vidhaan of wearing and treating a gemstone or Yantra, that some system have a Vidhi Vidhaan which reverses the procedure of rays absorption in the body... the same gemstone which was increasing rays of certain planet in body... or same Yantra which was increasing energy of certain planet, can be used oppositely to decrease the effect and energy. Is it true?
