Benefits of Ekaadashee Fasting:
It brings the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
It liberates one from the cycle of birth and death.
It gives one freedom from the sins of the past.
It fulfills the wishes of health, wealth and happiness.
It enhances the physiological functions of the body.
It helps in flushing out the toxins from the body.
It helps to strengthen one's self-control.
It improves one's emotional stability.

Method of Ekaadashee Fasting:
There are several methods of keeping fast for Ekaadashee. One can adopt anyone method according to one's capacity
(1) Complete fasting involves total abstinence from food and water for 24 hours.
(2) Partial fasting involves consumption of fruits and milk and the avoidance of rice and grains. People with health problems can opt for partial fasting after consulting with their doctors.
(3) Some people take only a single meal on the Dashamee day, the day before Ekaadashee.

Mythological Significance of Ekaadashee :
It is believed that Ekaadashee is the name of the Goddess that arose from Lord Vishnu to defeat Demon Mur. Happy with her divine act, Lord Vishnu blessed her that anyone who observes Ekaadashee fast will be freed of their sins and will attain Moksh.

The 26 Ekaadashee:
There are 26 Ekaadashee - 24 in a regular year, plus 2 in a leap year.  Here thye list is given from Chaitra Maas

(1) Paap-mochinee Ekaadashee : Paap Mochanee Ekaadashee falls on Chaitra Krishn Ekaadashee. Observing a Vrat on this day is highly significant as a sincere devotee can get rid of all his sins committed so far.

(2) Kaamadaa Ekaadashee :  Kaamadaa Ekaadashee falls on Chaitra Shukla Ekaadashee day.  A fast on this day will assist in getting rid of all sins and guilt that are a result of lust.

(3) Varoothinee Ekaadashee : Varoothinee or Vaikunth Ekaadashee falls on Vaishaakh Krishn Ekaadashee. The Vrat on this day is a step towards a fortunate phase of life.

(4) Mohinee Ekaadashee : Mohinee Ekaadashee falls on Vaishaakh Shukla Ekaadashee. Eliminates all sins and helps in leading a happy and prosperous life. Also, a person undergoing sadness is effectively able to overcome this sickness.

(5) Aparaa Ekaadashee : Aparaa Ekaadashee falls on Jyeshth Krishn Ekaadashee. Vrat on this day would help in eliminating their sins and henceforth, would finally assist them in attaining Moksh, or salvation.

(6) Nirjalaa Ekaadashee : Nirjalaa or Bheem Ekaadashee falls on Jyeshth Shukla Ekaadashee. It is the strictest fast among all the Ekadashee fasts in the Hindu religion as one does not drink water while observing it.

(7) Yoginee Ekaadashee : Yoginee Ekaadashee falls on Aashaadh Krishn Ekaadashee. It is the most significant Ekaadashee fast in order to get rid of various ailments and diseases.

(8) Devshayanee Ekaadashee : Dev Shayanee Ekaadashee falls on Aashaadh Shukla Ekaadashee. It is believed that Lord Vishnu went into a deep sleep for the next four months beginning from this day.

(9) Kaamikaa Ekaadashee : Kaamikaa Ekaadashee falls on Shraavan Krishn Ekaadashee. This Vrat is considered highly significant and auspicious for performing good deeds and seeking blessings of the Lord.

(10) Pavitraa Ekaadashee : Pavitraa Ekaadashee falls Shraavan Shukla Ekaadashee. It gives son.

(11) Ajaa Ekaadashee : Ajaa Ekaadashee falls on Bhaadrapad Krishn Ekaadashee. This Vrat eradicates all sinful and evil activities.

(12) Parivartan Ekaadashee : Parivartan Ekaadashee falls on Bhaadrapad Shukla Ekaadashee. On this Ekaadashee day Lord Vishnu who reclines on Aadi Shesh turns to another side and this turn is called as Parivartan Ekaadashee. This Ekaadashee comes after two months of Devshayanee Ekaadashee. Vishnu sleeps for four months, so after two months He changes His side.

(13) Indiraa Ekaadashee : Indiraa Ekaadashee falls on Aashwin Krishn Ekaadashee day. It is believed that observing this Ekaadashee will help in removing the sins committed by oneself and one's forefathers.

(14) Paap-kushaa Ekaadashee : Paap Kushaa Ekaadashee falls on Aashwin Shukla Ekaadashee day. By observing fast on this day one will be able to fulfill his dreams and observing it is equal to performing numerous Yagya and making several offerings.

(15) Ramaa Ekaadashee : Ramaa Ekaadashee falls on Kaarttik Krishn Ekaadashee day. Sins and evil deeds can be washed away by observing a Vrat on this day.

(16) Devotthaanee (Haribodhinee or Probodhinee) Ekaadashee : Dev Uthaanee Ekaadashee is celebrated on Kaarttik Shukla Ekaadashee. The Hindu devotees believe that Vishnu woke up from his Yog Nidraa (cosmic sleep) on this day after His four months sleep..

(17) Utpannaa Ekaadashee : Utpannaa Ekaadashee falls on Maargsheersh Krishn Ekaadashee day. One can enjoy all kinds of comforts and gets the shelter of Lord Vishnu, after death.

(18) Mokshadaa Ekaadashee : Mokshdaa Ekaadashee falls on Maargsheersh Shukla Ekaadashee day. Fasting on this day helps in attaining Moksh, or liberation.

(19) Saphala Ekaadashee : Saphalaa Ekaadashee falls on Paush Krishn Ekaadashee. Sins of many generations of a person are removed by observing the fast of Saphala Ekaadashee.

(20) Putradaa Ekaadashee : Putradaa Ekaadashee falls on Paush Shukla Ekaadashee. There is a popular belief that married couples without children will be blessed with children if they observe Putradaa Ekaadashee.

(21) Shat Tilaa Ekaadashee: Shat Tilaa Ekaadashee falls on Maagh Krishn Ekaadashee day. On this day, Til (sesame) is used in six ways. It is used in Ubtan, bathing, performing Havans, Tarpan, meal and donations - that is why it is called Shat Tilaa Ekaadashee.

(22) Jayaa (Bhoomi or Bheeshm) Ekaadashee : Jayaa Ekaadashee falls on Maagh Shukla Ekaadashee day. The greatness of this Ekaadashee was narrated to Yudhishthir by Krishn and is found in the Padm Puraan and the Bhavishyottar Puraan.

(23) Vijaya Ekaadashee : Vijayaa Ekaadashee falls on Phaalgun Krishn Ekaadashee day. The major belief behind practicing this ritual is the observance of a Vrat by Lord Raam before He headed towards crossing the ocean to reach Lankaa and defeating Raavan.

(24) Aamalakee Ekaadashee : Aamalakee Ekaadashee falls on Phaalgun Shukla Ekaadashee day. Dedicated to Aamalakee, Aamalaa or Indian Gooseberry Tree, observance of this Ekaadashee is believed to bring in great prosperity and benefits.

(25 & 26) Param or Kamalaa and Kaamadaa Ekaadashee - Kamalaa and Kaamadaa Ekaadashee fall in Purushottam Maas in Krishn and Shukla Paksh respectively.
