Sri Rangnathswamy or Sri Rangam Temple is dedicated to Rangnaath or Vishnu. In this temple He is in reclining form. It is located in Sri Rangam, Tiruchirapalli, Tamilnaadu state of India. This Temple is counted as one of the first and foremost 108 Divya Desam dedicated to Vishnu. It is one of the most illustrious Vaishnav Temples in South India rich in legend and history. Its location is on an island in Kaaveree River.

Its main entrance, known as the Raaj Gopuram (the Royal Temple tower), rises from the base area of around 13 cents (around 5720 sq ft) and goes up to 237 feet (72 meters), moving up in eleven progressively smaller tiers. The annual 21 day festival conducted during the Tamil month of Margazhi (December–January) attracts 1 million visitors. Sri Rangam Temple is often listed as the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world, the still larger Angkor Wat, Combodia, built by Suryavarmaa in the early 12th century, being the largest existing temple. The Temple occupies an area of 156 acres (631,000 square meter) with a perimeter of 10,710 feet (4,116 meters) making it the largest temple of India and one of the largest religious complexes in the world. Words often fail to describe the grandiose and beauty of the Sri Rangam Temple at Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Naadu.

Sri Rangam Temple is composed of seven rectangular enclosures, one within the other - the outermost perimeter being of more than 3 km in length. An outstanding feature of the Temple is the Hall of a Thousand Pillars with its row of pillars with rearing horses.
