Sarg 26-Saaran Introduces Raam's Army

Seeing the innumerable monkeys, Raavan asked Saaran - "Among all these monkeys who are the chiefs, who are brave, and who are mighty, who are leaders, who are enthusiastic and who obey Sugreev? Who is the chief army chief? How mighty these monkeys are? Tell me all this." Saaran said - "The monkey who is standing towards Lankaa and has 100,000 monkeys behind him. whose roar can make the whole Lankaa graceless, he is Neel. And the monkey who is beating his tail on the ground, whose roar is echoing all the ten directions, he is Baali's son Angad. Who wants to shatter this whole Lankaa and with whose intelligence Raam knew about Seetaa and who is standing beside Angad is Nal. They have 300,000 Vaanar under them. In the same way there are many other mighty and brave monkeys in Raam's army. They have millions (Crores) of monkeys under them. It is impossible to count all Vaanar and all Vaanar want to crush you like anything."

Saaran further said - "If you want to play with your life and fight with them, I tell you about the Vaanar army chiefs. Whose black and red hair are separated from each other, he is Har named mighty Vaanar. Millions (Crores) of Vaanar follow him with trees to attack Lankaa. All these Vaanar live on mountains and river banks. It is difficult to introduce all of them, but they all are sitting around their king.

Army chief of bears army is Dhoomra named Vaanar. His younger brother, whose name is Jaambvaan, is also very mighty. he is the chief of army chiefs. And who is looking at the army chief, he is Rishabh named Vaanar. He is also very brave and he always helps Indra with his army. Thus there are many other army chiefs who cannot be won even by Devtaa, Gandharv and Asur.

Now I tell you the names of those army chiefs who want to destroy this Lankaa with their might - this is Sabhaadan named Vaanar who is called the grandfather (Pitaamaha) of Vaanar. There are Krathan, Gavaaksh, Kesaree, Shatabalee etc Vaanar in Raam's army. They are very devoted to Raam and don't care for their life to do His work. Among them each Vaanar is the chief of 100 million (10 Crores) Vaanar. This army includes Vaanar who live on Vindhyaachal Parvat. Because of being innumerable, they are difficult to count. All are powerful and mighty. Their size is also as large as a mountain. All are devoted to Raam and their Swaamee Sugreev."

Sarg 28-Shuk Introduces Raam's Army

After introducing Raavan's army thus, Saaran got silent. Then Shuk spoke - "Hey Raajan, All these Vaanar are very mighty. Number of Sugreev's ministers are thousands. Among them 100 are those who are very mighty and brave, and can take whatever form they like because they are born from Devtaa and Gandharv. These two who look like Devtaa, are Mayand and Dwivid, They have drunk Amrit by the order of Brahmaa Jee. There is no other mighty Vaanar in the army as them.

And this huge-bodied Vaanar to whom you are looking at, is the same who came here to see Seetaa, he is the son of Kesaree and his name is Hanumaan. He can take forms according to his wish. He is the one who crossed 100-Yojan wide sea to come here. His speed is like Vaayu's speed. At one time, when he was hungry and he couldn't find anything to eat, he thought to eat Soorya seeing its color red and mistaken it as a fruit. He flew 3,000 Yojan to fetch it. At that time he was only a child. I know him from for a long time.

Hey Raajan, Whose wife you have abducted, the same Raam and His younger brother Lakshman are coming to Lankaa. Both these princes are very brave and mighty, skilled in weapons, and are always winning. To Raam's left side is sitting Vibheeshan. Raam has already performed his Abhishek for Lankaa. Near Vibheeshan is sitting Sugreev who is wearing gold chain. Raam has crowned him as the king of Kishkindhaa after killing Baali. Hey Raajan, See this huge army, and think and plan about your victory according to that and protect your Raakshas. This is my humble request.

Sarg 29-Raavan Continues to Spy on Raam's Army

When Shuk and Saaran told all this description of Raam's army to Raavan, he got scared. But he threatened them - "You should not speak thus to your Swaamee, because your Swaamee can punish you for this. It does not look nice to praise my enemy in front of me. You don't know politics at all, that is why your education has gone waste. If my kingdom is flourishing in spite of foolish ministers like you, it is only because my good luck. Didn't you get scared to death using such words to me? You know it very well that who speak in favor of me are rewarded and who do not are punished. Therefore disappear from my sight. Just be thankful to me that I am not prescribing you death sentence, because you have always been faithful to me. And you will die yourself if our cordial relationship is over." Both ministers went away from the court saying - "Victory to Raavan, Victory to Raavan".

Then Raavan said to Mahodar - "You call messengers soon." Mahodar called them and they came there immediately. Raavan said to them - "Go and find out what Raam wants to do next? Who are with them, and how He sleeps and wakes up?" Messengers went away immediately from there and observed Raam, Lakshman, Sugreev, Vibheeshan etc hiding somewhere secretly. Vibheeshan again recognized them as Raakshas and caught them. they started trembling seeing such a huge army. Among those messengers, there was a Raakshas named Shaardool. Vaanar caught him and gave him a good beating. Raam got him freed and they all came back to Lankaa hurt by Vaanar and said to Raavan - "Raam is staying near Suvail Parvat and His huge army is resting there only."
