Hanumaan's Stories-3
1. Birth of Hanumaan Hanumaan Helps Raam in Raam Raavan War Hanumaan Saved Lakshman - One day Meghnaad, Raavan's son, sent a Power to kill Lakshman. It couldn't kill him but it made him unconscious. Somebody told that a Vaidya (traditional doctor) named Sushen lives in Lankaa. If he could come and examine Lakshman. Hanumaan immediately went in the night and brought him sleeping along with his house. He examined Lakshman and said - "I need a special herb called Sanjeevanee to bring him to life. It can be found on Himaalaya. If the herb is not given to him, he will die by morning." Now who was that fast who could go to Himaalaya and bring that unknown herb before morning? Hanumaan said - "I will go and bring that herb, but tell me how I will recognize it?" Sushen said - "It glows in the dark." Hanumaan immediately flew to bring that herb. In the meantime Raavan knew that Hanumaan has gone to bring herb which will bring Lakshman to life. He sent a Raakshas to kill him. His plan was that the Raakshas would stop him on the way and killed him and when he would not be able to take that herb to the Vaidya, Lakshman would die. Seeing light on the way, Hanumaan did stop there, and the Raakshas did try to kill him but he killed the Raakshas and proceeded on his way. When he reached on the mountain where the herb was growing, he found that many different herbs were glowing. Now hot to identify that specific herb? He did not want to take a chance, so he uprooted the mountain itself on which the herb was growing, and took it to Vaidya. Now on the way he flew over Ayodhyaa, so Bharat saw something glowing through the sky. He thought that maybe some Raakshas was going to kill his brother, he immediately shot an arrow at Hanumaan and he fell down on the ground. Then they talked and Hanumaan introduced himself and told about Lakshman. Bharat got extremely sad. Although he told him if he sent his army to fight with Raavan but Hanumaan politely refused and said - "Please let me go as soon as possible, because if I did not reach there in time, Lakshman will have to go." Bharat said - "How can you reach there before morning? (he did not know Hanumaan's powers, that is why he thought like that) Don't worry, You sit on my arrow, it will take you there within no time." Hanumaan Jee refused this offer also and came from there in time. Sushen gave some herb to Lakshman and after a little while Lakshman got up. Everybody was very happy to see him alive and well. Hanumaan took Sushen back to Lankaa along with his house. Hanumaan Saved Raam and Lakshman - Once Ahiraavan stole Raam and Lakshman. He entered Raam's camp assuming the form of Vibheeshan and took them to Paataal Lok while they were sleeping. After a while Vaanar around noticed that Raam and Lakshman were not there. they reported this to Hanumaan and told him that Vibheeshan was seen in the camp, so Hanumaan asked Vibheeshan. Vibheeshan knew his brother Raavan, he told Hanumaan that he did not come there at all, he might be Ahiraavan, Raavan's younger brother assuming his form and took them out of the camp. Hanumaan asked him where he could get them. Vibheeshan told him that Ahiraavan lived in Paataal Lok and must have taken them there only. Hanumaan immediately went there. He found him doing a Yagya to offer their sacrifice to Devee. He wanted to enter the place but there were so many guards around that he could not go there directly. Now there are two versions. According to one he took the form of a fly and hid himself in flowers which were taken to Ahiraavan for his worship by his maid. When he had reached inside he assumed his original form, fought Ahiraavan, killed him, lifted Raam and Lakshman on his shoulders and brought them to their camp safely. Thus he saved their lives. According to another version, When he wanted to enter the place, he found a Vaanar who was like him, guarding the place. The Vaanar said - "I am the guard here, you cannot enter the place, you have to fight with me before you enter the place." Hanumaan fought with him but he was equally powerful. When Hanumaan could not defeat him he asked him, "Who are you?" He said, "My name is Makaradhwaj. I am the son of Hanumaan and I am the guard here." Hanumaan was a life-long Brahmchaaree, he could not think that how this Vaanar was his son, so he asked him who was his mother. Then Makaradhwaj told the story of his birth - "When my father came to Lankaa in search of Jaanakee Jee, its King Raavan burnt his tail. After burning Lankaa he jumped into the sea to put out the fire and to get some coolness. At that time a few drops of his sweat fell into the sea. One fish swallowed them and thus I was born to her and my name happened to be Makaradhwaj. Now tell me who are you?" Hanumaan remembered the incident and said - "I am your father. This Ahiraavan has brought my Swaamee Raam and Lakshman here and want to sacrifice them. I have come to take them." Makaradhwaj touched his father's feet. Then Hanumaan explained him the matter and Makaradhwaj agreed to help his father, kill Ahiraavan and take Raam and Lakshman away from there. Then only Hanumaan could enter the place, killed Ahiraavan with the help of Makaradhwaj and brought Raam and Lakshman to the camp. He introduced his son to them and his son also became the devotee of Raam. [This is the example of Hanumaan's great Bhakti (devotion) towards Bhagavaan Raam, and his powers he used for his Isht Dev Raam.]
