Story No 43-2/6 |
When the Prince woke up next morning, he remembered about the Princess he saw last night, but now she was not there. He started looking for her. When he did not see her, he thought that it was a trick played by his father upon him. He washed his face and read a book for some time. Then he called his slave and asked him - "How did that lady came here, and where has she gone now?" But the slave was completely innocent in this matter. The Prince thought he was lying. He tied him with a rope and plunged him in water several times saying - "I will drown you if you will not tell me who that lady was and who brought her here." The slave was intelligent, he said - "OK, I will tell you all, but it is difficult for me to reply your questions in this condition, just let me change my clothes." The Prince untied him and said - "Go and change and come back quickly." The slave ran towards the door, locked it and ran away to the palace. The Sultaan was talking to his Vazeer about his son's disobedience, and the Vazeer kept saying him just to keep some more patience, that the slave came there and reported the incident at the tower. The Sultaan got more sad hearing this incident and he sent his Vazeer to find out more about it. The Vazeer came to the Prince, the Prince was very calm and quite and was reading a book sitting on his bed. The Vazeer said to him - "Prince, You punished your slave to alarm your father?" The Prince said - "Alarm? The matter is worse." Vazeer said - "I hope that what he told us about you, was true, but it seems false." The Prince said - "Maybe he could not explain himself to you, but since you have come here, I wish to ask you, who was that lady who was sent here last night?" The Vazeer got startled hearing this, he said - "Prince, Do you think is it possible that a lady or anybody else could come here in the night without entering at the door and walking over the body of the slave? I am sure you must have seen a dream last night." The Prince said angrily - "I don't want to hear anything, just tell me what happened to that lady?" The Vazeer himself was in confusion, but gathering himself he asked him - "Did you see the lady?" "Yes, sure, She pretended to be in sleep, she did not speak to me, but soon I also fell asleep, and she left me. You know all this, don't you? And she might have reported all this to you." The Vazeer said politely - "Sir, There was nothing like this." The Prince took him by his beard and hit him with blows. Vazeer thought, "I am also in bad condition as the slave so I should better leave this place soon." He said to the Prince - "Tell me what happened yesterday night and if you set me free, I will tell all that to the Sultaan." The Prince said - "Go and tell him, if he pleases, I can marry that girl he sent to me last night. Go and do this quickly." Vazeer considered himself lucky, he immediately rose, locked the door and came to the Sultaan. He said to the Sultaan - "What this slave was saying is true." Hearing this the Sultaan, who loved his son very much, decided to find out the truth about this matter. He himself went to the tower along with his Vazeer. The Sultaan asked his son several questions, and the son answered them sensibly, which showed that he was in perfect senses. Then he asked about the lady he saw last night. The Prince said - "I do not want to talk about her any more, I just want to marry her." The Sultaan said - "I swear by my crown, which is going to be yours after me, that I do not know any such lady. And the question is how did she enter this place?" Then the Prince related to his father every single thing he experienced last night, he showed him her ring also on his own finger saying that he had exchanged it with his own and convinced the Sultaan that it was not his dream. The Sultaan also got assured that his son was not dreaming last night. He said
to the Prince - "Now the question is who she was, where to find her, how
to approach her father, how could she enter this place, etc. Come, let us be
miserable together." He took him out of the tower, to his palace, where
the Prince fell ill and the Sultaan also could not go out because of his son's
illness. His Vazeer then proposed him to move to his castle and the Sultaan and
his son moved to the castle which was on an island near the port. While all this was happening at the Prince side, Danhaash and Kaashkaash took the Princess to her home. As she awoke next morning, she also did not see the Prince beside her, so she asked her maid about him. She could not understand anything and asked her to explain it more clearly. Then the Princess asked her "Where is the Prince who was here last night, I tried my best to wake him up but could not succeed." The maid said - "Madam, How could anybody enter this room without my knowledge. The door was locked and the key is with me." But since the Princess has already seen him, she shook her by her hair and gave her a couple of blows. The maid complained to the queen about this and the queen came to see her daughter. When she asked her about the boy, she told the same story what she told her maid and told her that if she would marry, she would marry only that boy, otherwise will commit suicide. She showed her mother his ring also on her finger. The mother got convinced that she surely saw some boy in her chamber. She told all this to her husband, and the King announced in his council, that whoever will cure her, he will marry her to him. If he did not succeed, he will cut his head, so one should take up this matter after proper consideration. Now there was one rich man in his council who knew some magic, he assured the King that he would cure his daughter. The King showed him where his daughter was. As the daughter saw a stranger coming in her room she cried - "Why should I be attended by some stranger?" The King said - "Don't be offended, this man is one of my council members who wants to marry you." The Princess said - "But I am not going to marry any other than that boy." The councilman found the girl sensible while he was expecting her to be irrational. He fell on the feet of the King and said - "Sir, What I have head and observed, there is no point to cure the Princess, because she is perfectly all right and there is no remedy for healthy people." But the King thought that he was incapable of curing his daughter, so he ordered him to be beheaded. After some time he announced it in his kingdom if there were any physician, astrologer or magician who could cure his daughter. But if he miscarried his plan, he would be killed. An astrologer and a magician came to the King to cure his daughter and he was taken to his daughter. He took out a small sphere, a dish, several kinds of drugs for fumigations, a brass pot from his bag and lighted a fire. He told that it was all to arrest evil spirits, which were possessing the Princess, in the pot and throw them into the sea. The Princess said - "I am not in control of any evil spirit or anything, I am in perfect senses. If you can bring the boy whom I love, I will be grateful to you, otherwise you may go." The astrologer said - "If this is your case then only your father can help you." He put up all his things back in his bag and went away. He reported the King - "As you have announced, it seemed to be that the Princess was possessed with evil spirits but she is perfectly all right and you yourself are the remedy for her illness by giving her to the person she desires to marry." The King did not believe this astrologer also, and he had his head cut off. Thus 150 different types of people were beheaded and all heads were placed on different gates of the city.
