Now how do you get apples in your country? In USA there was a man named Johnny Appleseed who was a pioneer nursery man who introduced the apple to large parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. His given name was John Chapman, and he was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, on September 26, 1774, two years before the American Colonies declared their independence from England. At the turn of the century, Chapman ventured beyond the borders of established towns carrying apple seeds from Pennsylvania cider presses to create nurseries in the wilderness. hat is why fellow frontiersmen dubbed him Johnny Appleseed.

He became an American legend while still alive, largely because of his kind and generous ways, his leadership in conservation, and also because of the symbolic importance of apples. planting millions of apple trees during his lifetime. His work was important to the new settlers moving West after the American Revolution - apples were a vital staple to many families. The last known living apple tree planted by Johnny still grows on an old farm in Nova, Ohio.

Fresh apples and apple butter were staple food in settlers' diets; boiled apple cider and vinegar enabled them to preserve their foods. No other fruit could be started so easily, and none could be put to so many essential uses."

He died in Fort Wayne, Indiana on March 18, 1845.
