Here are some views about various aspects of MBH. You may or may not agree with them, but they are there.

Why Bheeshm was selected to decide upon the Term of Exile of Paandav?
There is a special significance why Bheeshm had to decide the discussion whether Paaandav had completed the term of their exile or not. Bheeshm is actually like Kaarttikeya who is responsible to represent Uttaraayan and Dakshinaayan. The six heads of Kumaar represent the six months of Uttaraayan. When Kumaar goes from Kailaash to Kanyaa Kumaaree or South India to teach, it is only representing the six months from Uttaraayan at Kailaash to start of Dakshinaayan at Kanyaa Kumaaree. Thus Bheeshm also waits for Uttaraayan to depart his soul and go to meet Gangaa (Aakaash Gangaa) his mother. Gangaa is the total circle of Nakshatra and the Uttaraayan half of this circle of Nakshtra is represented by Bheeshm. Thus we have to get the correct half of Nakshatra in terms of months to let Bheeshm to depart and join his mother at the correct time of the year. It is for this reason that we have Maagh Mahaatmya and Maagh Snaan from Paush Poornimaa.

Shakuni and Krishn
What was the main difference between Shakuni and Krishn?
--Both were in one or the other camp - Shakuni was towards A-Dharm, and Krishn was towards Dharm.
--Both were great planners, and both were planning for destruction of Kaurav, Shakuni had his own objective and Krishn with His own objective.
--Both were the friends or relatives of their camps.

There are some fundamental aspects which Krishn did not address - one was Arjun's question as to whether Paandav would be happy after having killed all their relatives. The war may have been necessary for political reasons and Krishn may have been right on most counts but Arjun's question still remains valid, very profound and is left unanswered. Thereby I find the Duryodhan's fiery accusations against Krishn in his dying moments, mustering all of his ebbing energy he had left in his shattered body, and his bold confidence that he will attain the heavens, and the subsequent acknowledgement of the same by the Devtaa, to be even more beautiful poetic expression than the Geetaa can ever wish to attain.
