Five Paandav are our five senses. If we consider the five Paandav representing
the five senses, then the children of Draupadee become the Sanskaar of our
Karm done by our senses. Their killing means, the destruction of the Karm
Shesh. We may also interpret t he Mahaabhaarat by
astronomy or astrology in a scientific way. Five Cursed
Apsaraa food-imagery - 'devouring' etc - is always an imagery of power as in Matsyanyaya - and the one who 'devours' is always in the imagery of fisherman, big-fish, or as in this case crocodile, which Makar is the Vaahan of Kaam Dev (or Varun Dev?) and also of Yamunaa (Vyaas Jee was born there). Kaam, Yogee, god, Kaal (Time) - all are imagined as fish/fisherman - and we know that Kaam is also crocodile - that these Apsaraa became. The curse they received was in their failed attempt to invoke Kaam in Rishi. Arjun is a consistent crocodile-killer in Mahaabhaarat - first, he saves Drone from crocodile; second, he kills these crocodiles to rescue the Apsaraa from curse; third, he wins Draupadee in Paanchaal Shishumaar - and as has been pointed out by Hiltebeitel, Shishumaar is related to crocodile. Apsaraa devouring men then must have relation with Kaam and power... Explanation
