[3-36] Vaishampaayan Jee said - "Hearing Bheem Yudhishthir sighed and thought in silence, "I have heard about the duties of kings and other Varn and only he is the true man who observe them, then how can I not obey them. It is like breaking a mountain like Meru Parvat. Thinking like this Yudhishthir said - "Whatever you have said is correct, still you listen to me. Whoever wants to achieve something only on the basis of his courage always gets pain, while who does something thinking over it properly succeeds in his objective. Bhoorishravaa, Shal, Jaraasandh, Bheeshm, Drone, Karn, Ashwatthaamaa and Duryodhan etc are very difficult to defeat. Besides to whoever kings we have defeated, all of them have joined Duryodhan, so they are now loyal to Duryodhan, and not to us. Certainly they will be better in battle than us. Those people will give even their lives for Duryodhan as he has given him wealth and comforts. Among all Karn is the most dangerous warrior. All have celestial weapons and you have nothing, that is how they are difficult to be defeated. Without first defeating them you cannot slay Duryodhan. I cannot sleep thinking about Karn's skills in archery."

Vaishampaayan Jee said - "Hearing this Bheem got worried and could not speak anything. At he same time Vyaas Jee came there. Yudhishthir got up and welcomed him. Vyaas Jee said - "O Yudhishthir, I came to know by my Divine sight that what you were thinking, so I have come to you. You are fearing from Bheeshm, Drone, Kripaa, Karn, Ashwatthaamaa and Duryodhan and Dushaasan, I will dispel that fear by means of one act of ordinance. Hear it and do it patiently." Then Vyaas Jee took him to a corner and said to him - "Your time of prosperity is near when Dhananjaya will slay all of your enemies. You listen to me and take this knowledge as "Prati-smriti", because I know that you are capable of receiving it. And after receiving it from you, Arjun will accomplish all his desires. You send Arjun to Mahendra, Rudra, Varun, Kuber and Yam to receive divine weapons from them. Arjun is capable of seeing them because of his asceticism and prowess. He is a great Rishi and a friend of Naaraayan.

Besides, you move from this place to some other place where you love to live, because if one wants to be happy, he should not live at one place for long time. If you lived here for long time, since you maintain many Braahman, you might exhaust deer and then destroy creepers and plants."

Vaishampaayan Jee said - "After saying this Vyaas Jee imparted the foremost science to Yudhishthir who had purified himself in the meantime. He then bade farewell to him and disappeared. Yudhishthir used to recite it at proper occasions. Paandav left that Dwait Van for Kaamyak Van on the banks of Saraswatee. They lived there for some time.

Arjun Goes to Swarg

[3-37] Vaishampaayan Jee said - "After passing some time there, one day Yudhidhthir called Arjun and said to him smilingly - "The whole science of arms is with Bheeshm, Drone, Kripaa, Karn and Guru's son Ashwatthaamaa. They all know all kinds of Divine weapons and they all are with Duryodhan. Duryodhan always keeps them happy so they will never betray him. Besides the whole Earth is also under him. You have a great burden on you, tell me what do you want to do? I have learnt a science from Vyaas Jee which will show you the whole world. You learn that science from me and in due course of time, get the grace of the celestials. Go to north, start doing Tap. All weapons are with Indra. When Indra wanted to kill Vritraasur, all Devtaa gave him their all weapons. So you go to Indra and he will give you his all weapons. You may go today."

Vaishampaayan Jeee said - "Yudhishthir then imparted him the science he received from Vyaas Jee. Arjun took his Gaandeev, his inexhaustible quivers, and set off on his journey towards north praying for the death of Dhritraashtra's sons. Braahman blessed him to be successful in his wishes. Draupadee said - "O Dhananjaya, Whatever Kuntee had desired at the time of your birth and you desire, all should be fulfilled. I wish that no one should be born in Kshatriya families, I regard Braahman who live on alms. I am very grieved that Duryodhan called me cow in the assembly, but all those grievances are nothing in comparison to your separation. Although your brother will be caring me in your absence, still for whatever period you are away from the family, we don't feel good. I wish that you be successful in your task. I pray Hree, Shree, Keerti, Dhriti, Pushti, Umaa, Lakshmee, Saraswatee all take care of you. I bow to Vasu, Rudra, Aaditya, Vishwedev, Saadhya that they should protect you. Be secured from all kinds of spirits belonging to all directions."

Vaishampaayan Jee said - "Krishnaa got silent after saying this and Arjun  circled his brothers and Dhaumya Rishi, took his bow and set off on his journey. Arjun came to Himvant - the resort of celestials in one day time. As he came to "Indrakeel", he paused for a moment that he heard a voice saying to him "stop". He looked around and found a thin ascetic with matted hair who looked like another Brahmaa. He asked Arjun - "Who are you child, who has come with your bow and arrows, looking like a Kshatriya? This the place where Braahman live. There is no need of any weapons here, because there is no fighting here. Therefore throw away your weapons." Thus Braahman told this to Arjun repeatedly, but did not succeed in moving Arjun from his intentions. Then the Braahman said - "Bless you, I am Indra, ask me what you want."

Arjun bowed his head to him and said - "If you are pleased with me, please give me this boon that I learn all the weapons from you." Indra said - "O Dhananjaya, When you have reached up to here, what is the use of weapons. You have already obtained the pure state of life, ask only the regions of bliss you desire." Arjun said - "I don't need regions of bliss, I don't need any object of pleasure, not the state of celestial, even I don't need of prosperity of gods. I have left my brothers back in forest, leaving them there and without taking revenge from my enemies would I want all these things?" Indra said - "When you will have Darshan of three-eyed Shiv, then I will give you all the celestial weapons. That is why first try to get Shiv's Darshan, because only after having his Darshan, I will give you weapons." Having said this Indra disappeared then and there and Arjun remained stood there.
