Shringaavat |
Shringaavat [From MBH, Balaraam's Pilgrimage-5] Shringaavat Muni was the son of Gaalav Muni. This story about Shringaava Muni comes in Mahaabhaarat when Balaraam Jee was on his pilgrimage. Once when he was in a discourse, that an old woman came there and said - "I will give him half of the fruit of my Tap, who will marry me." Shringaavat agreed upon this pact. They got married according to Dharm. That night that lady became a very beautiful young girl dressed in celestial dresses and jewelry etc. Shringaavat passed that night with her happily. Shringaavat was very impressed with her beauty. In the morning the lady said - "Our pact is over so please permit me to go now." While going she blessed the place (it was on the banks of Saraswatee River - Samant Panchak area) and said - "Whoever will pass one night here he will get the result of being Brahmchaaree for 58 years." And she went away to Heaven. After she had left, Shringaavat got very sad. He accepted the fruit of half of her Tap with great difficulty, but he also followed her to Heaven.
