Bhairav Devtaa See also Bhairav The Vaidik books talks about eight types of Bhairav. The "Rudra Yaamal" talks about the origins of Kaal Bhairav. Kaal Bhairav is that form of Shiv, whom even the Kaal (God of Death, Yam) is afraid of. Kaal Bhairav removes the fear and obstacles of his worshippers and removes all the difficulties from their lives and grants them unlimited happiness in their lives. In the Shiv Puraan, it is clearly stated that Shiv manifested as Bhairav Devtaa to protect Vishnu from the injustice and falsehood of Brahmaa. Thus Bhairav is a fierce form of Shiv and in this form he is believed to have cut the fifth head of Brahma - read this story of cutting Brahmaa's head. Bhairav Devtaa was created out of the third eye of Bhagvaan Shiv as the Poorn Avataar or full or complete manifestation of Shiv Jee. It is in this context that the Poojaa, once for the year, is performed to guard us against the evil eyes, hands and envy of others. This offering is like re-enforcing the walls and doors of our home to protect us in all aspects of life. It is believed that Bhairav is connected to the Southern face and relates to the Mahaavidyaa goddess named Bhairavee who gives Lagna Shuddhi (purification of the Disciple). This Bhairav Pujan is purifies and protects the body, self concept, personality, and other attributes associated with the Disciple. Kaal Bhairav Jayantee 2011 date is November 18. It is believed that Shiv appeared in the form of Batuk Bhairav on the 10th day during the waxing phase (Krishn Paksh) of Moon in Jyeshth Month. Batuk Bhairav Stotra is chanted on the day. Kaalaashtamee, or Mahakaal Bhairavaashtamee, is the most auspicious day dedicated to Kaal Bhairav. Kaal Bhairav is the God of Time – Kaal means "Time" and "Bhairav" is the form of manifestation of Shiv. Krishn Ashtamee is the proper day to propitiate Kazal Bhairav. It must be noted that Kaalaashtamee is observed on the 8th day of Krishn Paksh on all months by Shiv devotees. When to do Bhairav Poojaa Bhairav or Bhairavi are worshipped when there are malefic planets in the birth Lagna (time) or when natural malefic planets are transiting. Bhairav removes and protects person from these types of effects. As per the Indian astrology, Raahu is known as a shadow planet, which plays an important role in the life of a creature. The Indian astrologers often suggest people, the worship of Bhairav to reduce the evils caused by the malefic position of Raahu in the horoscope. Worship of Bhairav is very useful to win over your enemies, success and all materialistic comforts. It is very easy to please Bhairav Devtaa by doing normal worship daily. Coconut, Flowers, Sindoor, Mustard oil, black Til (sesame seeds) etc are offered to the God and the following Mantra is chanted with devotion to get God's Blessings. Besides, Bhairav is worshipped by Yogee and Taantrik to gain Siddhi. Bhairav is regarded as the guardian of Yogee and Taantrik who attain accomplishment of Mantras by doing Saadhana (devotion). Bhairav guards the temple of Shiv and due to this fact, he is also known as "Kotvaal" (Guard). The worship of Kaal Bhairav can be done when Devee Durgaa Poojaa is performed and an offering of a tenth additional pair of Lapsee and Soharee can be offered in the Havan in his name - "Om Shree Bhairavaaya Namah Swaahaa". Aanand Bhairav-Happy Form of Bhairav How to Do Bhairav Poojaa It is always advisable to contact your family Pundit of Guru with regards to the performance of the Poojaa. A high intensity Vaidik Worship of Kaal Bhairav at the hands of expert Vaidik Braahman can change your entire life. If your enemies trouble you and there are malefic associations seen from visible and invisible enemies in your horoscope, Kaal Bhairav Poojaa or Kaal Bhairav Hom, or Kaal Bhairav Yagya is highly recommended for you. Propitiate Kaal Bhairav and take pleasure in a life with victories in all walks of life. Kaal Bhairav is worshipped in three different modes: Saatwik Poojaa, Raajasik and Taamasik modes. It is believed that it is quite easy to please Mahaakaal Bhairav and the devotees are blessed with boons and their wishes are fulfilled. Bhairav is worshipped mainly in two forms Mahaakaal Bhairav and Batuk Bhairav.
--Saatwik Pooja uses the conventional offerings like Gandh (perfumed water), Akshat
(grains), Pushp (flowers), Naivedya (food), Deep (Lamp) etc. Here is a simple guide to perform Kaal Bhairav Poojaa. This is only to give an idea and you can always be flexible with the rituals or be more elaborative. After morning purification rituals a painting or idol or photo of Bhairav is installed in the Poojaa area. Some people also keep a Bhairav Yantra. Ganesh is remembered first and prayers are offered to him. A Shlok dedicated to Ganesh is chanted. Panchopchaar Vidhi is followed in Bhairav Poojaa. Panchopchaar Poojaa involves offering – Akshat (unbroken rice mixed with turmeric), Dhoop (incense), Diyaa (lamp), flowers, Prasaad or Naivaidya (food). The Prasaad offered to Bhairav is black Urad Daal Vadaa fried in mustard seed oil. The prayer that is read out in the end is the Bhairav Stuti or Bhairav Chaaleesaa. The most appropriate time for conducting Bhairav Poojaa is a Monday or Friday evening at 6 pm. Another Method of Poojaa
Gobar from a calf Leepay or paste the ground after clearing and cleaning an area with the Gobar and leave to dry. The Gobar is very important in insuring that no evil or negative forces disrupt your offerings and it is accepted by whom it is intended. Sit comfortably facing East and place 3 Paan leaves on the ground side by side. Light three Diyaa behind the Paan leaves, and with flowers, Bel leaves and neeb, invoke the blessings of Bhagvaan Shiv, Mahaa Kalee and Kaal Bhairav Devtaa. Offer the flowers and leaves on the three Paan leaves. Sprinkle water 3 times on the three leaves followed by the Haldee, Sindoor and incense. Offer the sweet rice, yogurt (Dahee) followed by water again. Offer Supaaree and cloves also. Light the incense and wave in a clockwise direction followed by Aaratee using a camphor and mango leaf. Conclude the offering by taking the three dried coconuts and offering them individually with your prayer and wish to Devataa. A final Aaratee could be done. If time would permit you can make Hom or Havan on the earth in a little hole pasted also with Gobar on your left side of the Vedee. For this you can mix some sweet-rice, white rice, sugar, Ghee, Googool and black Til (black sesame seeds). Light the fire with canphor and sticks, do aachman by sprinkling water three times around the fire and invoking Agni Devtaa, the fire god saying "On Agni Devtaa avaahayaami". You can offer all the Devee and Devtaa names that you know, ending with Swahaa. Include some of these names:
Om Shankaraaya Namah Swaahaa. End the Havan with Aachman and fanning the smoke in all the directions. All offerings of materials used for Poojaa can be offered in the sea or river the next morning.
