Vaidik Mantra
Vaidik Mantra are the Mantra prescribed in our oldest Four Vedas,
devoted recitation of these Mantra or chanting them devotedly and in
prescribed manner, frees the person from all troubles and miseries. Mind
can he controlled by devotedly worshipping the God or praying to HIM in
his language of Vedic mantras. His holy monosyllable is 'OM'. It is His holy and divine word that should
be recited as its meaning
should be understood and well thought of this word 'OM' is very
comprehensive and represent Brahm, It is a Very powerful word. No Mantra
can be formulated without His word. Vaidik Mantra can be analyzed,
measured or weighed; the result of these Mantra are visible.
The five important Vaidik Mantra are represented by five faces, from which
the 38 most celebrated Vaidik Mantra have been generated. Your Lordship,
being celebrated as Lord Shiv, is self-illuminated. You are directly
situated as the supreme truth, known as Paramaatmaa.
The five Mantra mentioned in this connection are as follows:
(1) Purush, (2) Aghor, (3) Sadyojaat, (4) Vaamadev, and (5) Eeshaan.
These five Mantras are within the category of 38 special Vaidik Mantra
chanted by Lord Shiv, who is therefore celebrated as Shiv or Mahaadev.
Another reason why Lord Shiv is called Shiv, which
means "all-auspicious," is that he is self-illuminated, exactly like Lord
Vishnu, who is the Paramaatmaa. Because Lord Shiv is directly an
incarnation of Lord Vishnu, he is situated as Lord Visnu's direct
representative. This fact is corroborated by a Vaidik Mantra:
"patim vishwa syatmeshwaram shaashwatam. shivam achyutam."
pitM ivaSva sya%maoSvarM
SaaSvatM iSavaM Acyautma\
The Super soul is called by many names, of which Maheshwar, Shiv and
Achyut are especially
mentioned.
Taantrik Mantra
Vaidik Mantra are performed through faith. The results of
these Mantra can not be analyzed, measured, weighed or seen but can be
felt. The persons who do not believe can not be satisfied unless
they feel themselves. And these Taantrik Mantra are to be recited as per
prescribed methods. One experiences the sensation and Vibrations during or
at the end of Jap of these Mantra.
Aghor Mantra or Sabaree Mantra
In Taantrik Granth, there are many
Sabaree or Sabar Mantra in local languages, and are very effective. These are
otherwise known as Aghor Mantra too.
Other Mantra
Gaayatree Mantra should
not be recited by anyone and at will ... Gaayatree should be given by a Guru,
and should be practiced in a certain way. However during the Brahm Muhoort
time, no rules apply, and if you are a Braahman, it specially becomes a
obligation to perform it ...
Mahaa Mritunjaya Jap can be done by anyone however it should be
instructed by a Guru ...
Stotra and other Mantra like Lalitaa Sahastra Naam, Vishnu Sahastra
Naam or Saundarya Laharee don't need Guru's instruction ...
Lastly, Mantra are only means to an end and not the end in themselves ...
even Gaayatree Mantra when done correctly will only lead you to higher
goals by giving you direction ...
Experimenting with all possible Mantra to see which suits you is not a
very good method of practice ... and sometimes it can have negative
effects .. especially if you are chasing Mantra like Lakshmee, or
Ganapati, or the other Taantrik Mantra ... Please remember that the Taantrik Mantra that are
practiced by Taantrik are usually performed after elaborate initiations by
Guru ... Tantra believes
that Mantra are more powerful than gods who preside them because by
performing the Mantra you are creating an obligation for the presiding
Deity to do what you want them to do ... spiritualism seeks to do the
reverse of this .. that is to submit to the will of god and go where he
takes you with faith and determination ....
