Marriage-2 - Match Making
Marriage Match-Making Process
Astrological compatibility consideration is not only a mere ancestral
practice but is a way to get the knowledge regarding the nature, features,
love and the social communication features of the people. Unless and until
a compatibility is found between the two persons they can't hold a life-long
relationship happily. Since it is a very difficult task to get the accurate
knowledge of the person's nature etc. before a marriage (or a long-term
relationship), the proven since of Astrology can definitely help the two
lives a great deal. Horoscope matching is done in Hindus when two people
are considering marriage and want to determine their compatibility. This
report consists of the Vaidik birth chart of both the boy and girl and the
matching report as per ancient Vedic principles and determines temperament
compatibility, mutual love, strength of the marital bond, financial prosperity
post marriage, progeny, sexual compatibility amongst other things.
Marriage is the biggest gamble
a person will ever do in his or her life. Therefore it is always advisable to
find out through every possible means whether the couple are compatible with
each other. Marriage is one of the most sacred and significant occasions in
life. Conferring a legal and dignified status, Marriage is a sacred ritual and
great care has to be exercised while uniting two people in wedlock.
Each man or woman expects the
married life to be happy and prosperous. The astrological guidelines are to
test marriage adaptability and compatibility between the male and the female.
Horoscope Matching is very deep and intensely rooted in Hindu society. Before
entering in to marriage relationship an astrologer is referred to for his
analysis of the horoscopes (match making) of bride and the bridegroom. It is
done to ensure a harmonious, balanced and healthy marriage relationship.
Marriage is one of the most
important decisions of life. Hence it is important to find out the compatibility
between the couples. Astrology for marriage gives details about the match, the
details about the ups and downs in your married life, the amount of love between
the couples, sexual compatibility, chances of divorce and so on.
The chief importance is given to the
Moon's position and aspects in case of a male horoscope and the sun's position in
case of a female horoscope. The configuration of the two connotes the happiness of
married life.
The most important things to be considered first are;
--The suitability of the stars
--The position of Lagna and Raashi
--The longevity of the bride and the bridegroom
--The larger strength of the 7th and 8th House
The strength of the 2nd, 4th, 6th,
9th and 12th Houses is also to be seen as these too have a bearing on happy married
life. 2nd house represent family vision and financial stability, 4th House represents
general happiness and relation with in laws, 6th House represents health and the 12th
house represents bed comforts.
In the case of dual sign ascendants (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces),
if the 7th Lord is strong and placed in the 12H, without malefic aspects, then
domestic and marital bliss is assured. How does the Lord of the 7HL being
in the 6th House from the 7H, in the house of losses/ expenditure/ confinement,
become so auspicious?
I have some practical
experience of this topic. If 7th Lord is in 12th House and Raahu is also
playing his role nicely (with 7th Lord or in 7th House or with Venus, the
Kaarak of marriage Jupiter) then that person leave his/her country after
marriage. One girl 2 yrs ago got hitched and left this country for the rest
of her life - she got married with a person who is citizen of USA. She
was having same combination.
Marriage Match Making in North India - Asht Koot Method
One should first do "Asht Koot" Matching by matching Varn, Vashya, Taaraa,
Yoni, Graha, Gan, Bhakoot, and Naadee. All of them are assigned special points.
Their total is 36, but if 18 points are matched, one should marry. Naadee is a
must, if it is not matched, one should not marry. Gan, Raashi Koot, Ghatak and
Rajju are more important than Maangalik, Vashya and Yoni.
1. Varn (For work)
2. Vashya (Personal relations)
3. Tara (For destiny)
4. Yoni (For mental compatibility)
5. Graha Maitree (For nature)
6. Gan (For social relations)
7. Bhakoot or Raashi (For life) - Different strength and position of Moon
between the two charts is called Bhakoot Dosh.
8. Naadee (For physical compatibly) - see
Naadee Dosh
-----------------------------------
Naadee Dosh
Naadee Dosh is an astrological Dosh to be considered at the time of
marriage. It has nothing to do with an Aayur Ved Dosh in this context.
Naadee dosh is a very important factor in horoscope matching for marriage.
In North India a horoscope for marriage is matched on the following 8
factors :
(1) Varn > value 1 point
(2) Vasya > value 2
(3) Taara > value 3
(4) Yoni > value 4
(5) Graha Maitree > value 5
(6) Gan Maitree > value 6
(7) Bhakoot or Raashi > value 7
(8) Naadee > value 8
The total of the above is 36. They are known as Gun. A minimum of 18 Gun
should be present for a horoscope to match. Out of this 36 points or Gun
the Naadee is worth 8 points.
Therefore in North India Naadee is the most important factor in horoscope
matching. Therefore a Naadee match has to be there for the marriage to take
place. But if somebody has to marry even with Naadee Dosh, there are Parihaar
for this Dosh also and people do those Parihaar before the marriage - but do
it at your own risk, it is still dangerous.
-------------------------------
In Asht Koot matching, total points of harmony are 36. If total Gun less
than 22 and more than 29, the match is not compatible from the point of
view of Asht Koot match.
Bhakoot is allotted 7 points out of 36. It is an important Koot.
If Moon signs are 1/7 to each other, it is assumed that the this Koot is
matching.
More so "sign friendship" is also assumed while matching which
fetches another 4 points. Thus if Moon signs are 1/7 to each other it
yields 11 points.
But there is a rider that Leo and Aquarius are not considered as auspicious
for matching.
Some Saavant go up to the extent if there is 1/7, the nativities may be
considered as matched, but I feel that Gan and Naadee Koot should not be
ignored. Out of 8 Koot, four are based on sign and four are based on
Nakshatra.
The nativities of both should be matching and even more important than Asht
Koot matching.
Some hints are given on nativity matching in attached article.
----------------------------------------
There is another way to match the charts of the boy and the girl ---
(1) Count the Raashi from boy's Lagna to the girl's Lagna
(2) Count the Raashi from the boy's Moon to the girl's Moon
(3) Count the Raashi from the Boy's Sun to the girl's Sun
(4) Count the Raashi from the Boy's Venus to the girl's Venus
(5) Count the Raashi from Boy's Jupiter to the girl's Jupiter
The result of any count
should not be (6/8), (2/12), or (9/5). 9/5 is good in Phalit, but in chart
matching it is not good.
There should not be 7/7 Birth Raashhi or Chandra, otherwise their
ideologies will always be different
Whatever is there, it should different from these, then only charts match.
Other points
(1) In boy's chart, if Venus is in 12th House, Venus is good for sex, but
he is not so good in a girl's chart, because then the girl's sex demand
will be more.
(2) In the boy's chart, if Mangal and Venus are together in any other
House than the 12th, or aspect each other, then the girl gets sex pleasure
her whole life and family life is a happy life.
(3) In boy's chart, if Venus is affected by Shani, it is good; but Budh
and Venus Yuti is not auspicious in both the charts - especially in boy's
7th and 12th Houses.
(4) Boy's Lagnesh (Lagna Lord) should not be anywhere else with Budh than
in Lagna.
(5) In a girl's chart, Ketu should not be in 5th or 7th House; or Jupiter
should not be alone in 5th House or in Sinh (Leo) Raashi. If they are
there then they should be aspected by Benefics. Otherwise there may be
hurdles in getting children.
(6) In girl's chart, Soorya or Ketu should not be in 8th House.
South India horoscope matching - given below, is different.
According to Sage Garg -
There are 10 basic parts of marriage match making --
(1) Taaraa - purpose is to
avoid Nidhan (Mrityu)/Vainashik /Janma Taaraa etc.
(2) Chandra - Assessing / Comparing strengthening of natal Moon of two
charts and their combined influences
(3) Bal - Assessment of 5 kinds basic strength factors of the horoscopes
of the bride as well as the groom i.e. Dharm, Aayu, Jan, Dhan, and Buddhi.
(4) Varn - the Four classes - Braahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shoodra - these
are the personal behavioral attitudes in dealing/problem shooting used
(5) Bhavanaadhip - comparison and assessment of strength of l/7 axis houses and
their mutual and combined strengths of the two horoscopes
(6) Naadee (Aadyaa, Madhya, Antya )
(7) Jaati or Vashyam
(8) Mandal - Panch Bhoot based stellar compatibility
(9) Swar- Calculation of longevity based on Swar Shaashtra formulae
(10) Varg - general personality assessment based on popular name of
the bride or groom
In our humble experience we
find that Bala (strength), Bhavanaadhip, Chandra, Taaraa, are essential
compatibility parameters for match making whereas Naadee and Varn play role
of good indicators of quality of married life.
The concepts of Mandal and Swar (not Yoni as mistakenly done by many) are
the most understood or most confused ones.
The other concepts like Jaati and Varg has little practical use in marriage match making.

Marriage Match Making in South India
While matching the charts, the chief importance is given to the Moon's
position and aspects in case of a male horoscope and the Sun's position
in case of a female horoscope. The configuration of the two connotes the
happiness of married life. The most important things to be considered
first are;
The suitability of the stars

The larger strength of the 7th and 8th house
The strength of the 2nd, 4th,
6th, 9th and 12th houses is also to be seen as these too have a bearing on
happy married life, because
2nd house represent family vision and financial stability,
4th house represents general happiness and relation with in laws,
6th house represents health and the
12th house represents bed comforts.
According to South Indian
astrologers, there are as many as 40 Porutham or agreements, out of which
11 Porutham are to be considered in order to judge the suitability of the
proposed matrimonial alliance, and out of these 8 are supremely important.
They are;
Dina Porutham : gives good health and longevity to the partner.

towards each other
Vasya Porutham: promotes mental attraction and affinity and happy married life
Rajju Porutham: ensures long and prospective married life and it's a must for
preventing Maangalya Dosham
Vedh Porutham: prevents unhappiness in married life and ensures good and cordial
relationship between the married couple
Naadee Porutham: it signifies pulse or nervous energy indicating physiological and
to a certain extent hereditary factors.
